Lam Dong: Opportunity to officially export passion fruit to the Chinese market

The signed protocols include: Protocol on phytosanitary requirements for chili peppers exported from Vietnam to China; Protocol on phytosanitary requirements for passion fruit exported from Vietnam to China; Protocol on safety and phytosanitary requirements for rice bran and rice bran extracts used as raw materials for animal feed exported from Vietnam to China; Protocol on quarantine, inspection and veterinary hygiene requirements for raw bird's nest and clean bird's nest products exported from Vietnam to China.

Among them, passion fruit is a crop that has been cultivated by many farmers in Lam Dong province, bringing high economic income in recent times.

Currently, the passion fruit cultivation area in Lam Dong province is about 800 hectares, with a yield of 40 tons/ha and an estimated output of nearly 13,000 tons, concentrated in Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lam Ha districts... The profit per hectare is about 350 - 400 million VND. In 2024 alone, the passion fruit cultivation area has been converted by people to an additional 25 hectares.

In recent times, the agricultural sector of Lam Dong province has encouraged people and businesses to invest in domestic passion fruit seed production in order to proactively supply seeds for production; on the basis of ensuring disease-free quality requirements, in accordance with current regulations on management of production and business of perennial fruit tree varieties.

With passion fruit being officially exported to the Chinese market, many opportunities for economic development through export have been opened up; at the same time, it has affirmed the economic position that this crop brings to the people.
