Fire-blocking white lines are opened in key areas, such as: upstream protection forests; protection forests bordering residential areas, agricultural production areas; key areas with high risk of fire and frequent forest fires; or places with steep slopes and thick vegetation.

Each runway is 15m - 30m wide, depending on the actual terrain, ensuring sufficient isolation and containment of fire. These routes help create a safe boundary, prevent fire from spreading if a fire occurs, and support authorities in forest fire fighting.

Specifically, the white fire-resistant runways were built in the following localities: Van Ban district built a 16.7 km long runway in the forest area bordering Nam Tha commune and Nam Co commune, Mu Cang Chai district (Yen Bai province); Sa Pa town built a 24.7 km long runway in the forest area bordering Muong Hoa commune and Ta Phoi commune (Lao Cai city); Lao Cai city built a 7.2 km long runway in the border area between Ta Phoi commune and Muong Hoa and Thanh Binh communes (Sa Pa town).
The construction process is carried out by a combination of mechanical and manual methods, with the active participation of forest rangers, forest protection teams of villages and hamlets, and local people. In addition to clearing vegetation, many places also carry out controlled pre-burning to create a safety corridor.

The construction of firebreaks is not only effective in the dry season, but also brings long-term benefits to forest management and protection. The roads help to divide the forest area, making it easier to patrol, control, prevent forest encroachment and detect fire risks early.
Along with technical measures, the province has promoted propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in forest fire prevention and fighting. Many forest fire prevention and fighting teams at the grassroots level have been established and maintained effective operations. People have been trained, equipped with knowledge and participated in patrolling and guarding during the peak season.
