On the evening of January 29, An Lac Traffic Police Team, Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department (PC 08) set up a patrol checkpoint to control and handle violations of the Traffic Law on National Highway 1A (section through Tan Tao ward, Binh Tan district).
During the process of setting up the checkpoint, the authorities discovered that Mr. PMT (born in 1988, from Quang Ngai) was driving a motorbike while drunk and walking unsteadily, so they asked Mr. T. to stop the vehicle for inspection.
Mr. T. had an alcohol concentration of 1,206 milligrams/liter of breath (exceeding the maximum violation level of 0.4 milligrams/liter of breath).
Knowing that he had violated traffic laws, Mr. T. repeatedly asked the traffic police how much the fine was. The traffic police explained that the inspection at the patrol checkpoint only resulted in a violation ticket.
After that, Mr. T. needed to sign the alcohol test results and then pay the fine at another time. However, Mr. T. repeatedly refused.
Still drunk, Mr. T. asserted: "I didn't check anything, why are you asking me to sign?" To explain to Mr. T., the traffic police showed him the image of the breathalyzer test. At the same time, the traffic police informed Mr. T. that he would be fined 6-8 million VND, have his driver's license revoked for 22-24 months, and have his vehicle impounded for 7 days.
Upon hearing the fine, Mr. T. panicked and said that with such a large fine, he would not know where to get the money to pay. After the traffic police explained many times, Mr. T. finally agreed to sign the alcohol violation report.
In addition to checking alcohol levels, during the evening of setting up checkpoints, the An Lac Traffic Police Team also checked many trucks and handled violations related to overloading.
Accordingly, the working group drew up a report with driver NVK (born in 1974, from Binh Duong) for driving a concrete mixer truck that was 31.6% overloaded.
For this violation, Mr. K. was fined 4 million VND, had his driver's license revoked for 2 months, and the vehicle owner was fined 14 million VND. In addition, the traffic police also asked Mr. K. to unload the vehicle according to regulations.
Regarding the fine, Mr. K. lamented that he was driving for hire for someone else, and that he was not on duty today, but he still drove because he was asked to do it for him. "With a heavy fine and my license revoked, I have to stay home," Mr. K. added.
