Observations in the corporate bond market show that many companies issuing bonds have recently applied relatively high interest rates to attract investors. Some companies have listed interest rates as high as 10-14%, double the current average interest rate on bank deposits.
According to reports, real estate is the group of businesses with the highest interest rates, reaching 10-14% per year. For example, North Star Holdings Joint Stock Company has an interest rate of 14% per year on one bond issue; Khai Hoan Land's bond issues have the highest interest rates, reaching 13.5%…
Overall, the interest rates offered by real estate companies are quite attractive for the initial periods, while subsequent periods are typically in the range of 4-4.5% plus the average 12-month savings interest rate of the Big 4 banks…
Securities companies also issued bonds with interest rates as high as 8-9.5%. Typical examples include PetroVietnam Securities (8.9%), Bao Minh Securities (9.5%), and Rong Viet Securities (8%).
Conversely, the average interest rate on bank bonds is around 4-6% per year, which is quite low compared to the interest rates on bonds in other sectors.
In addition, some banks' bonds have interest rates close to 8% per year, such as Ho Chi Minh City Development Commercial Bank ( HDBANK ), with interest rates of 7.47% and 7.8% per year for some bond issues; Viet A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VietABank) with interest rates of 7.2% per year…
Despite currently offering double the returns of bank savings, this investment channel has not yet become vibrant again. According to statistics on the HNX (Hanoi Stock Exchange), the total value of newly issued bonds in the first half of 2024 reached VND 116,422 billion. In contrast, during the peak year of bond issuance (2021), the entire market recorded a total of 964 domestic bond issuances with a total value of VND 595,000 billion.
