According to VietNamNet's survey of online deposit interest rates of commercial banks in Vietnam, Sacombank is the only bank that still maintains a deposit interest rate of over 6%/year for regular individual customers.

Accordingly, this bank is applying an interest rate of 6.2%/year for online deposits with a term of 36 months.

Sacombank is also a bank that pays quite high interest rates for long terms, from 5%-5.7%/year for online deposits with terms of 12-24 months.

Except for Sacombank, all other banks have reduced their deposit interest rates to below 6%/year (excluding special interest rates for customers depositing hundreds of billions of VND or more). Even the 5%/year interest rate is only maintained for terms of 12 months or more.

PVCombank, the bank that pays the highest interest rate for 6-11 month deposits among the credit institutions (4.8%/year for online savings deposits), has lost its leading position after sharply reducing its 6-11 month interest rate by 0.5 percentage points to 4.3%/year from today, March 8.

At the same time, this bank also slightly reduced the online deposit interest rate for 12-month term by 0.1 percentage point to 4.8%/year, and for 18-36-month term to 5.1%/year.

PVCombank still maintains the 2.85%/year interest rate for 1-5 month term. This is the lowest interest rate at the moment in the bank's interest rate table, while the highest interest rate is for 18-36 month term (5.1%/year).

This is also the only bank that lowered its deposit interest rate on March 8, bringing the number of banks that have reduced interest rates since the beginning of March to 8, including: PGBank, BVBank, BaoViet Bank, GPBank, ACB, Agribank, VPBank, PVCombank.

Of which, BaoViet Bank and GPBank have reduced deposit interest rates twice since the beginning of the month.

After PVCombank reduced interest rates, the bank currently leading the system in paying the highest interest rate for 6-month term deposits is ABBank (4.7%/year); followed by NCB (4.65%/year), VietBank, HDBank and OCB (4.6%/year).

For 9-month term deposits, the highest interest rates belong to VietBank and Nam A Bank (4.8%/year); followed by NCB (4.75%/year), OCB and Dong A Bank (4.7%/year).

VietBank and Nam A Bank are currently the two banks paying the highest deposit interest rates for a 12-month term (5.3%/year). NCB and OceanBank are next with an interest rate of 5.1%/year. A few banks still holding on to the 5% interest rate for this term include: Dong A Bank, Viet A Bank, Sacombank, LPBank and Saigonbank.

With an interest rate of 5.8%/year, VietBank is still the market leader for 18-month terms. HDBank and Nam A Bank are behind with an interest rate of 5.7%/year.
