On April 17, the People's Committee of Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district (Lai Chau province) said that in the commune, 1 person died, 1 person was in a deep coma and 1 person had to go to the emergency room after eating strange mushrooms.
Accordingly, at around 10 p.m. on April 10, at the cardamom farm of Mr. Sung A Pao's family (46 years old, in Chu Va 8 village, Son Binh commune), a suspected poisoning case occurred.
Three people, including Mr. Sung A Pao (born in 1979), Mr. Sung A Duong (born in 2004) and Ms. Giang Thi C (born in 2007), showed signs of poisoning after eating lunch and dinner with white rice, chicken, and 3 mushrooms picked by Mr. Pao from his family's cardamom field.
Three mushrooms are umbrella-shaped and dark brown.
After eating, Giang Thi C had symptoms of stomach ache, nausea, and frequent diarrhea. From 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. on April 11, Mr. Sung A Duong and Mr. Sung A Pao also had the above symptoms.
At 6:00 p.m. the same day, the patients were taken to Tam Duong District Medical Center (Lai Chau) for examination and treatment.
On April 15, patients Giang Thi C and Sung A Duong were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) for treatment.
By 11pm on April 16, patient Giang Thi C had died and was taken home for burial. Patient Sung A Duong is still being treated at Bach Mai Hospital, while Mr. Sung A Pao's health has stabilized./.
