- Fans were surprised when Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang decided to stop acting and switch to teaching. Are you happy with your new job?
Coming to Hanoi College of Art was not a sudden decision. This is also not a new job because I have been teaching here since 2015. I thought very carefully before leaving the Youth Theater to focus on teaching.
Before that, I taught at the school as a collaborator. Recently, the school restored the Department of Theater and invited me to become a full-time lecturer. Of course, the job had to be fun for me to decide to change at the age of over 50.

- Many artists expressed regret because you were the "seed" for many high positions in the Youth Theater?
I used to be the Deputy Director of Drama Group 2 - Youth Theater, but after one term I resigned. I didn't want to be a manager, I just wanted to be a normal actor to act and take care of my children because there were too many children at home (laughs) . If I had continued in that role, I would be in a different position now. But that was my choice and I'm happy about it.
- At first, when announcing their retirement from the Youth Theater, many audiences asked what was the problem with Nguyet Hang and Anh Tuan that made them leave?
Until now, Mr. Tuan was only a long-term contract actor and not a regular member of the Youth Theater. But the mechanism has changed, the theater only retains regular actors and does not sign long-term contracts with anyone, and my husband is the same. Therefore, Mr. Tuan is currently a collaborator of the Youth Theater and still participates in performances because of his passion for the stage.
I still return to the Youth Theater to perform normally if there is a suitable play and I am invited, without any problems.

- You recently participated in making short videos posted on TikTok. With your personality, it is strange that you would do such videos. How did your husband encourage you to act together?
We encouraged each other. Tuan was shy about showing off so he wasn't excited, I convinced him because this was not just a job but also an opportunity to create beautiful memories in the family.
These are not just fun videos but scripted, carefully produced and have small life messages. Of course, we chose the topic of cooking - Tuan's hobby.
Acting was easy for us, but Mr. Tuan wanted to bring the most realistic images. Luckily, we received many positive comments that made my husband and I happy, motivated to make more videos.

- You look scared of your husband but when you watch TikTok, you're the opposite. Why is that?
You see, it's obvious (laughs). Tuan can't bully me, he respects me more. My husband pampers me to the max, now even more than when he was young, it feels like we were made for each other.
When I decided to quit the Youth Theater, my husband was worried that I wouldn’t be able to handle the new job when I was over 50. This age should be a little more leisurely, but I “started my career” too late (laughs). I am a workaholic, and I don’t let myself rest for too long. Many times, my husband reminded me to relax my schedule to recharge my batteries, but every time I took a day off, I got sick.
Because he loves cooking, Mr. Tuan takes care of the kitchen. He is willing to make anything his wife and children want, even in the middle of the night. Or when the whole family wants to go out, he is the one who makes the plan and we immediately have a safe and happy vacation. He takes care of all the important things in the house so that I can focus on art.
My husband and I had a difficult life before, but since Tuan opened a crab noodle shop with artist Vinh Xuong, our income has been stable thanks to the many customers. Although we still have to pay off our house and car loans every month, my husband and I use that as motivation to work.
- Maybe that's why you are complimented for looking younger than your age of 53?
Having a loving husband, being able to do the work I love, and a house always filled with children's laughter... that is the medicine that keeps my spirit comfortable and creates positive energy.
The eldest daughter is married and settled in Germany. The second daughter just had a baby and is currently living with my husband and I for convenience. The third son is in 9th grade and the fourth daughter is 6 years old. We maintain a happy, warm family atmosphere, sharing the joys and sorrows for our children to follow.
The youngest child is only in first grade, so my husband and I always encourage him to try his best to take care of him. When we are old, we plan to move into a nursing home to avoid bothering our children and grandchildren.
The couple Nguyet Hang - Anh Tuan are familiar artists to television audiences as well as the Northern stage. Anh Tuan is associated with villains, gangsters, and gangsters in the films 12A and 4H, Candles in the Night, The House with Many Windows, Flavors of Love ...
Nguyet Hang plays a variety of roles from gentle, resigned to scheming, mischievous in the films Those Who Live Around Me, Eva's Secret, Last Sunshine, Boneless Rice Cake... Recently, Meritorious Artist Nguyet Hang made her mark when playing the character of Mrs. Moc - wife of boss Le Toan (Hoang Hai) - in the crime series Doc Dao (2024).
