90 universities participated in the Mathematical Olympiad.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Doan Trung Cuong, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, the Mathematical Olympiad is a place for gathering, exchanging and competing in the field of mathematics, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning mathematics, promoting the passion for mathematics and the learning movement of students, and at the same time contributing to discovering and nurturing mathematical talents.

"Mathematics is not only the foundation of science and technology or other scientific fields, but also an important thinking tool that helps us solve practical problems in life. In today's era, mathematics becomes part of the key to participating in the 4.0 revolution and taking advantage of the achievements of that revolution to develop the country," said Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Trung Cuong.

This year, 90 university delegations participated in the competition, an outstanding number. The first time it was held in 1993, the competition had only 3 universities participating. Thus, since the last time the Mathematical Olympiad was held in the South in 2003, after more than two decades, this competition was held in Ho Chi Minh City this year on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification day.
