The newspaper was born from the revolutionary base.

According to the memories of veteran revolutionary cadres such as Nguyen Minh Vy, Ly Van Sau, Vo Van Sung... in the book We Make Khanh Hoa Newspaper published 25 years ago, on April 26, 1946, at the Expanded Conference (Dien Khanh), Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee issued a resolution to establish a newspaper of the provincial Party Committee called Thang Newspaper. After a year of preparation, in April 1947, the newspaper was born in Hon Du war zone. Thang Newspaper was printed using stone printing technique, each month published 2-3 issues, each issue consisted of 4 pages, printed about 600-700 copies, using sarco-bone ink. Despite the harsh conditions, the newspaper still spread strongly among the masses. "People in the city (Nha Trang) were very excited to receive the newspaper... They treasured it and secretly passed it around to read. As long as the newspaper remains, the revolution remains...", comrade Nguyen Minh Vy - former Chairman of the Provincial Administrative Resistance Committee - recounted.

Initially, the team working on Bao Thang consisted of only 5 people led by comrade Nguyen Minh Vy. However, to produce the newspaper, the revolutionary compatriots had to make great efforts. “The birth of Bao Thang was a great effort, not by one or a group of people, but by dozens, hundreds of people with and without names, the result of a sophisticated and effective organizational system, from the war zone to the countryside, to the city and vice versa…”, journalist Ly Van Sau recalled. Stone tablets for engraving were taken from Dien Khanh and carried up the mountain; white paper, ink and printing rollers were sent up by establishments in Nha Trang city. Gasoline and oil were collected and put into bamboo tubes and carried up to the war zone to run generators to collect news for the newspaper production… The printed newspapers were then sent back to the districts and city of Nha Trang so that the establishments could distribute the newspapers to the masses.

Growing up in hardship

During the two resistance wars, the newspaper's name changed depending on the period: Thong Tin (1951 - 1954), Gio Moi (1954 - 1956), Giai Phong Khanh Hoa (1965 - 1975). Despite the different names, the newspaper was still an effective tool of the provincial Party Committee, encouraging the revolutionary movement, preserving faith and ideals in the most difficult times. At the end of 1975, after merging the two provinces of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa into Phu Khanh province, the two newspapers Giai Phong Phu Yen and Giai Phong Khanh Hoa merged into Phu Khanh Newspaper. The newspaper quickly caught up with the new mission, closely reflecting local life, promptly propagating the Party's guidelines. In particular, Khanh Hoa Newspaper initiated the first Central - Central Highlands Party Newspaper Conference in 1983, opening a traditional activity for the press in the region.
