Celebrating the 67th anniversary of the Vietnam Youth Union's traditional day (October 15, 1956 - October 15, 2023): 67 years of building, training and growing

Bearing in mind Uncle Ho's teaching "Wherever there is a need, there are youth, wherever there is difficulty, there are youth", under the leadership of the Party, continuing the heroic revolutionary tradition of the nation, over the past 67 years, generations of Vietnamese youth in general, Binh Thuan in particular, have promoted patriotism, national pride, the spirit of volunteerism, not afraid of difficulties, ready to sacrifice to regain independence and sovereignty of the Fatherland; striving to study, work, train, and build a new model of youth with a pure heart, bright mind, and great ambition.

Common home of Vietnamese Youth

67 years ago, on October 15, 1956, in the capital Hanoi, the Vietnam Youth Federation and the National Youth Front Mobilization Committee held a Congress, deciding to establish the Vietnam Youth Union with the aim of: "Uniting widely all organizations and forces of Vietnamese men and women nationwide from North to South, at home and abroad, regardless of social class, political orientation, profession, religion to fight together with the whole people for national independence, for world peace, for a bright future for the Youth". The Congress was honored to welcome beloved Uncle Ho to attend. In his instructions at the Congress, Uncle Ho advised: "...As the masters of the future, all of our youth must unite closely, strive heroically, overcome all difficulties, compete to contribute to the cause of building a beautiful country - a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam...". This was an important historical event and since then, October 15, 1956 has been chosen as the traditional day of the Vietnam Youth Union.

It can be said that in the cause of national liberation and socialist construction, through different periods, although it has had different names such as the General Youth Union, the Youth Federation, the Vietnam Youth Union, the Southern Liberation Youth Union... the nature and goal of the Association is only one. That is to unite all classes of Youth, arouse and encourage patriotism, national pride and self-respect so that every Youth, regardless of their background, with Vietnamese blood, can maximize their ability to contribute to the Fatherland of Vietnam for the goal of national independence and socialism.

Over the past 67 years, under the leadership of the Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh , the Vietnam Youth Union has united generations of Vietnamese youth to join the revolutionary stream of the nation; not afraid of sacrifices and hardships, contributing to glorious achievements in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The noble and fine traditions of the Vietnam Youth Union throughout history are an epic built by the tireless contributions of generations of cadres, members, and youth who wholeheartedly follow the Party; absolutely loyal to the ideals and interests of the nation. In the fire of resistance wars, the Youth Union has mobilized millions of members and youth who spared no blood and bones, did not hesitate to sacrifice hardships and heroically fight on the battlefields; In building the Fatherland, especially in the current period of innovation and integration, the Vietnam Youth Union has constantly innovated its content and methods of operation, continued to unite, organize and mobilize members and young people to promote the spirit of creativity, initiative and volunteerism to contribute to building an increasingly rich and civilized country.

Youth power in the period of innovation

Along with the youth in the whole country, over the past 30 years since Binh Thuan province was re-established, the work of the Association and the Youth Movement of Binh Thuan province has developed continuously in both quantity and quality of activities. Binh Thuan youth, always taking the lead in revolutionary action movements of the province's youth, have contributed to building a generation of Binh Thuan youth in the new era, living with ideals, ethics, knowledge, dynamic health and sharp thinking. Each youth upholds patriotism, awareness of building and protecting the Fatherland; is ready to volunteer for the community; lives responsibly, has the will, the aspiration to rise up, wishes to contribute and grow up. The Association’s chapters and collective member organizations have made great contributions to successfully implementing the movements and tasks entrusted by the Party and the People, especially the movement “I love my Fatherland”, the program “Accompanying young people to establish their careers”, the program “Building a strong Vietnam Youth Union in the province” and volunteer activities for community life and social security… Since then, it has had a positive impact on the awareness and striving spirit of the majority of young people, creating a favorable environment for members and young people to practice and strive; at the same time, bringing specific benefits to the community and society. Through that, the Association has been consolidated and developed; the front for gathering and uniting young people has become increasingly widespread.

As a broad social organization of young people, in recent times, the Vietnam Youth Union of the province has also made many efforts to innovate and be creative in its organization and activities, getting closer to the legitimate needs and interests of young people. In particular, in the first months of 2023, the activities of accompanying, caring for young people, consulting, career guidance, vocational training and job introduction for young people have been of interest to the Union and actively and widely implemented. Accordingly, the Union chapters at all levels in the province focused on investing in researching the content and organization methods of the "Youth Start-up" program in accordance with the conditions and characteristics of each locality; training, transferring scientific and technical advances, and new models in production and business for rural youth have been maintained with many new features in the way of doing things. In the first months of 2023, the Union chapters at all levels coordinated to organize consulting, introduction, and job creation for 4,259 unemployed and jobless young people; Introduced 1,289 young people to stable jobs. In addition, the Association's chapters continue to coordinate with local policy banks to guide and support procedures for youth members to borrow capital to develop the economy, invest in livestock models, expand production and business facilities, deploy capital sources for members and students to borrow for studying and starting a business.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh also advised: "Our youth must strive to study (...). To build socialism, we must be educated" and "The Party must take care of educating them in revolutionary ethics, training them to become successors in building socialism who are both "red" and "expert". Nurturing the next generation of revolutionaries is a very important and necessary task". Therefore, in the coming time, all levels of the Youth Union in the whole province need to further innovate the content and methods of operation, improve the quality and effectiveness of revolutionary action movements organized by the Union. Pay more attention to implementing revolutionary action movements of the Union so as to both meet the needs and legitimate interests of the youth and stimulate the youth's youth and intelligence in the cause of building the homeland of Binh Thuan; at the same time, pay more attention to the work of building a strong Union organization, focusing on building and establishing Youth Union - Association organizations in non-state enterprises; Improve the quality of members; activities of branches, clubs, groups, teams; build a core force of cadres among members, youth...

67 years have passed, with the attention and support of all levels and sectors, the generation of Binh Thuan youth with courage, intelligence, confidence and great ambitions will continue to dedicate and contribute to the cause of building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
