Celebrating 60 years of the founding of the school with a rich tradition of "good teaching, good learning" in the Capital

On the morning of April 19, in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attended the 60th anniversary celebration of Thang Long High School - a school with a rich tradition of "good teaching, good learning" in the capital city of Hanoi, a school famous for many teachers who are patriotic intellectuals such as Dang Thai Mai, Phan Thanh, Phan My.

A bright spot in the capital's education sector

Nearly 100 years ago, on the land of Thang Long - Hanoi, a land of talented people with a rich history, culture and love of learning, Thang Long private school was founded by teacher Hoang Minh Giam; at first, it only had primary level, then it was expanded to high school level in 1935 and divided into 3 levels in 1954.

Inheriting and promoting that tradition, in 1965, Thang Long High School was born. In the extremely difficult and arduous circumstances of the resistance war against the US to save the country, implementing Uncle Ho's teaching: "No matter how difficult it is, we must continue to compete to teach well and study well", teachers and students of the school made efforts, determined and fulfilled their tasks well: Maintaining teaching and learning; organizing students to work; nurturing and ensuring safety for students.

Since then, after 60 years of development with the ups and downs of history; although due to circumstances and practical situations, sometimes the location and name of Thang Long High School have had to be changed, generations of teachers and students of Thang Long High School have always imbued with the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: "If you want to know, you must compete to learn. Learning never ends" and adhere to the philosophy "Talent is the vital energy of the nation".

According to Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, teachers have been united, unified, constantly trying, striving to overcome difficulties, overcome challenges, building Thang Long High School today to be spacious, modern, becoming a bright spot in the capital's education sector, truly a place where parents and students place their trust.

The school has full functional rooms and teaching and learning equipment; the scale is stable at 45 classrooms. The teaching staff has deep professional knowledge and rich teaching experience. Many students of the school have achieved high results in excellent student competitions at the city, national and international levels in many different subjects; won many awards in science and technology competitions as well as culture, arts, physical education and sports; the rate of students passing university entrance exams is high with many valedictorians and salutatorians of the city and the whole country.

"We are also very proud that in 2023, Thang Long High School is one of the first high schools to have students admitted to the Party," Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed.

With its outstanding achievements, Thang Long High School and many of its teachers have been honored by the Party and State with the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals, the title of "Excellent Teacher"; Labor Medals and many other noble awards and titles.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long warmly congratulated, commended and highly appreciated the efforts, contributions, dedication and outstanding achievements that generations of teachers and students of Thang Long High School have achieved over the past 60 years, making important contributions to the education cause of the capital and the whole country.

Continue to improve the quality of education, not only "teaching letters" but also "teaching people"

Our country is entering a new era of development with great aspirations; in which, the capital Hanoi is a large, typical center of the whole country in terms of high-quality education and training, adapting to the process of national digital transformation, innovation and international integration. In that context, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Education and Training, the Hanoi People's Committee, and the teaching staff of Thang Long High School to continue to make efforts, strive, and effectively implement the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws on education development; in which, some key points are noted.

First, more effectively implement the motto: "Taking students as the center - the subject; Teachers as the driving force; schools as the support; families as the fulcrum; society as the foundation". Continue to improve the quality of education, not only "teaching words" but also "teaching people", helping students develop comprehensively and harmoniously; innovate teaching methods, promote self-study capacity, creative thinking, adaptability in the digital environment and international integration. Pay attention to and create more favorable conditions for students to study, practice, develop intelligence, qualities, physical strength, capacity, and strengths, helping them become good, responsible citizens with aspirations to contribute.

Second, promote key education; continue to maintain and improve achievements in city, national, regional and international exams; promote the "digital learning" movement, thereby disseminating knowledge and skills in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation to students. Along with that, focus on educating students on ethics, lifestyle, traditional cultural values, national history, life skills, civic awareness, entrepreneurial spirit and innovation.

Third, pay more attention to and care for the material and spiritual life of the teaching staff. Continue to train, foster, and build a team of teachers with good political qualities, professional ethics, solid professional qualifications, and innovative thinking. Teachers must not only impart knowledge but also be exemplary in training, always encouraging, motivating, and inspiring students.

Fourth, innovate school management towards modernity, transparency, democracy, responsibility and efficiency. Promote the application of information technology, digital transformation in management and teaching. Enhance international cooperation and exchange; proactively connect with high-quality educational institutions, science and technology organizations, and businesses to expand creative space, develop experiential programs, career guidance, scientific research and startups for students.

Fifth, build a clean and strong grassroots Party and mass organization; do a good job of educating the young generation in ideals, political qualities and sense of responsibility. Strengthen the close relationship between school - family - society, mobilize the support and resources of the community to jointly care for the school's educational cause.

The Deputy Prime Minister advised students, the future owners of the country, to always try hard, constantly study hard, acquire knowledge, be proactive and actively practice "Virtue - Intelligence - Fitness - Beauty", nurture dreams, ambitions, aspirations to contribute, become good citizens, contribute to building the homeland and country to become more and more prosperous, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as beloved Uncle Ho always wished.
