In his commemorative speech, Cam Lo District Party Secretary Do Van Binh emphasized that after the 1954 Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam was signed, the country was divided into two regions. Quang Tri Province, including Cam Lo District, was under enemy control. They concentrated on building numerous military outposts and strategic hamlets, creating a western shield along the vital Highway 9, forcibly relocating people to settlements and establishing concentration camps to control and control the area; they carried out comprehensive repression and terror tactics—military, political , psychological, and economic—aiming to eliminate the revolutionary fighting spirit of our people.

On April 21, 1964, the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee held an expanded conference in Ro Ro village (Huong Hoa district) to decide on the general uprising. After a thorough assessment of the situation, the Cua region (comprising Cam Chinh and Cam Nghia communes) was chosen as the starting point for the province-wide "general uprising" movement.

Under the direct leadership of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee and with the support of local armed forces, on the night of July 4th and the morning of July 5th, 1964, the people in the Cua region, armed with various weapons, simultaneously rose up to destroy strategic hamlets, crush the puppet government apparatus, and establish a revolutionary government. This marked the beginning of the "eliminate evil, break the shackles" uprising, shifting the movement from a defensive struggle to an active offensive against the enemy to seize power for the people on all fronts, making a significant contribution to the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.

Following the liberation of their homeland, upholding revolutionary heroism and the spirit of the uprising, the Party Committee and people of Cam Lo district in general, and the Cua region in particular, with willpower, determination, and striving, have together built a new life and revived the land that was once a battlefield. As a result, the economy has gradually developed comprehensively and in the right direction; culture and society have seen positive changes; national defense and security have been strengthened; and political security and social order have been maintained.

Speaking at the commemoration ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong affirmed that the 60th anniversary of the Cua Uprising is an opportunity for the Party Committee, government, and people of Quang Tri province in general, and Cam Lo district and the Cua region in particular, to recall the heroic and resilient revolutionary traditions in the cause of fighting against the US and saving the country.

Through this, we educate people about patriotism and the revolutionary traditions of our homeland, arousing national pride; and at the same time, paying tribute to the heroic martyrs who participated in the resistance, especially in the Cua Uprising.

Acknowledging and appreciating the achievements of Cam Lo district in various fields over the past period, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ha Sy Dong, suggested that, in the spirit of the "New Uprising," the locality should continue to overcome difficulties, unite, and work together to build Cam Lo district not only into a heroic district in war but also a heroic district in labor and new rural development.

Specifically, it is necessary to focus on completing the District Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, in a manner consistent with the socio-economic development strategy of the entire province and the plans of various sectors and fields; to prioritize attracting strategic investors with genuine capabilities, fostering linkages between businesses and the district, thereby forming and developing industry linkages along the value chain; to harmoniously integrate economic development with culture and society, achieving progress and social equity; and to continue to pay more attention to building a clean and strong Party and political system, strengthening unity and cohesion within the Party committee, and consensus among the people.
