Tonight, July 3, at the Thanh Tan So National Monument, Cam Lo District held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the July 5th Uprising Day (1964 - 2024). Delivering a commemorative speech, Cam Lo District Party Secretary Do Van Binh emphasized that after the 1954 Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam was signed, the country was divided into two regions. Quang Tri province, including Cam Lo district, was under the control of the enemy. They focused on building many outposts and strategic hamlets, creating a shield on the west side of the vital Highway 9, trying to force people to establish hamlets, build concentration areas to control and suppress; terrorizing and suppressing comprehensively in military, political, psychological and economic terms to destroy the revolutionary fighting spirit of our people.

On April 21, 1964, the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee held an expanded conference in Ro Ro village (Huong Hoa district) to decide on a general uprising. After a thorough assessment of the situation, the Cua area (including Cam Chinh and Cam Nghia communes) was chosen as the starting point for the "general uprising" movement of the entire province.
Under the direct leadership of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee and the support of local armed forces, on the night of July 4 to 5, 1964, the masses in the Cua area armed themselves with various weapons and simultaneously rose up to destroy strategic hamlets, smash the puppet government apparatus, establish a revolutionary government, and initiate the uprising movement to "destroy evil and break the shackles", transforming the movement from a stalemate to actively attacking the enemy to seize power for the people on all fronts, making an important contribution to the cause of completely liberating the South and unifying the country.
After the day the homeland was liberated, promoting revolutionary heroism and the spirit of the homeland uprising, the Party Committee and the people of Cam Lo district in general, and Cua region in particular, with their will, determination and efforts, have together built a new life, reviving the land that used to be the old battlefield. Thanks to that, the economy has gradually developed quite comprehensively and in the right direction; culture and society have had positive changes, national defense and security have been strengthened, political security and social order and safety have been maintained.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong affirmed that the 60th anniversary of Cua Uprising Day is an opportunity for the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri province in general, Cam Lo district and Cua region in particular, to review the heroic and resilient revolutionary tradition in the cause of fighting against the US and saving the country of our people.
Thereby, educating patriotism and revolutionary traditions of the homeland, arousing national pride; at the same time paying tribute to the heroic martyrs who participated in the resistance war, especially in the Cua uprising movement.
Recognizing and appreciating the results in all fields of Cam Lo district in recent times, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong suggested that, in the spirit of "New Dong Khoi", the locality continue to overcome difficulties, unite and join hands to build Cam Lo district not only a hero in war but also a heroic district in labor and new rural construction.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on completing the quality of the District Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 in line with the socio-economic development strategy of the whole province and the sectoral and field plans; focusing on attracting strategic investors with real capacity, linking enterprises with the district, thereby forming and developing sectoral linkages according to the value chain; harmoniously linking economic development with culture and society, implementing social progress and equity; continuing to pay more attention to the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system, strengthening solidarity and unity within the Party Committee, and consensus among the people.

At the program, the important milestones and the boiling atmosphere of the Cua Dong Khoi movement were vividly recreated through the Artistic Political Program with the theme "Cua - Cam Lo region, proud of the homeland of the Dong Khoi" with the participation of many famous artists and singers, attracting a large number of local officials and people to enjoy.
