Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975)

Emphasizing the significance, importance and special nature of the event of 50 years of national peace and unification, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that the city is preparing commemorative activities with a proactive, urgent and positive spirit. Up to this point, most of the activities have taken place in accordance with the direction of the City Party Committee, ensuring the expected progress.

The activities focused on highlighting the meaning and core values of peace, independence, territorial integrity, integration, and development of the country and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, promoting the tradition of patriotism and national pride, arousing the precious qualities of Vietnamese culture and people, the land and people of Ho Chi Minh City with the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, tolerance, chivalry, facing and overcoming all challenges.

The highlight of these activities is that Ho Chi Minh City focuses on bringing material and spiritual values to each project and work; implementing welcoming activities in a practical manner, without formality or waste.

Mr. Nen noted that the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary are not separate from the regular activities that the city is carrying out. Specifically in the socio -economic field, it is required to speed up and accelerate the construction progress of works, projects, socio-economic infrastructure, and social welfare.

For the works and projects celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, in addition to prioritizing works that directly serve the material and spiritual life of the people; works and projects that solve environmental problems, urban beautification, etc., in the fields of culture, literature and art, there needs to be products and works that have the power to spread, creating cultural and historical values that highlight the meaning and core values of peace, independence, unity and territorial integrity. Ho Chi Minh City urgently implements an action program on building a Ho Chi Minh cultural space.

The city's Fatherland Front organizes activities, creating conditions for sectors, sectors, religious dignitaries, intellectuals, scientists, businesses, associations, social organizations, and overseas Vietnamese to participate, both affirming the values and traditions of patriotism and contributing ideas to build the country and Ho Chi Minh City to develop more and more.

At the same time, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that the work of gratitude is both a duty and a responsibility, which must be done practically and well, in conjunction with the regime and policies for people with meritorious services, victims of Agent Orange, the poor, the lonely elderly, poverty reduction and eradication in the city. In addition, it is necessary to continue promoting patriotic emulation movements, promptly discovering, praising, rewarding and honoring collectives and individuals with initiatives and outstanding achievements in patriotic emulation movements; focusing on typical advanced examples in studying, working, fighting, building and defending the Fatherland...

The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is a major event of special significance that the Secretariat has decided to hold a national celebration in Ho Chi Minh City. The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has also issued Directive 21 on organizing activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue implementation plans. In particular, emulation movements are associated with the implementation of tasks in 2024 and 2025. At the same time, they are associated with the implementation of Resolution XI of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, welcoming the 12th Congress of the city and looking forward to the 14th National Party Congress. Along with that, emulation movements are associated with the implementation of Resolution 24 and Resolution 31 of the Politburo, Resolution 98 of the National Assembly.
