On the evening of December 14, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province solemnly celebrated the 30th anniversary of Ha Long Bay being recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage, December 17 (1994-2024).
Attending the ceremony were leaders of several agencies of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of UNESCO, many provinces and cities across the country, and a large number of cadres, people of all ethnic groups, and armed forces of Quang Ninh province.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the 30-year journey of managing, preserving and sustainably promoting the values of Ha Long Bay. At the same time, they continued to honor and spread the outstanding global values of the heritage.
Accordingly, over the past 30 years, Quang Ninh has always been aware of the highest responsibility, with many effective solutions to preserve, maintain, embellish and promote the value of world heritage, fully implementing the International Convention on the Protection of Human Heritage.
In 1995, Quang Ninh province established the Ha Long Bay Management Board as the agency responsible for managing Ha Long Bay heritage. Along with that, the province has issued many specialized resolutions, mechanisms, policies and regulations on the management, conservation and promotion of Ha Long Bay heritage values.
Ha Long Bay is increasingly attracting more and more international tourists to visit and relax.
Many pioneering and breakthrough solutions have been implemented to preserve the heritage values intact, such as: Prohibiting fishing in the absolute protection zone; ending loading and unloading activities and cargo transportation in Ha Long Bay; relocating polluting facilities out of the heritage buffer zone; establishing nature reserves and special-use forests to strictly protect the ecosystems of Ha Long Bay...
Along with that, Quang Ninh has devoted resources to renovating and investing synchronously and modernizing the infrastructure system related to the bay such as the international standard passenger port system; outstanding architectural works;...
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, said that after 30 years since being recognized by UNESCO, Ha Long Bay now has a new look.
In particular, the outstanding global values of the heritage are preserved intact; potential strengths are promoted; the apparatus, mechanisms and policies in heritage management and protection are gradually consolidated and improved, creating a solid foundation for the strategy to preserve and promote the values of Ha Long Bay in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.

“Ha Long Bay is increasingly becoming an attractive destination, attracting domestic and international tourists; truly becoming a famous tourism brand of Quang Ninh, Vietnam and the world. From 1996 to now, there have been over 57 million visitors to the bay, with entrance fees reaching over VND8,600 billion. Thereby, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province,” Ms. Hanh informed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized: In the current context, when the world is facing major challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution, pressure from economic development, especially pressure from increased tourism, preserving and promoting heritage values requires us to continue to make efforts, be creative and unite.
Mr. Cuong suggested that in the coming time, Quang Ninh needs to continue to do a good job of forecasting, evaluating, correctly identifying the situation, determining the position, role, distinct potential, outstanding opportunities, competitive advantages and challenges in management.
At the same time, be proactive and creative in mobilizing resources, seeking support from ministries, departments, branches, domestic and international experts to continue to have appropriate policies and actions in the management, conservation and sustainable promotion of heritage.

Promote the transformation of development methods from “brown” to “green” by applying science and technology, digital transformation, increasing the economic value of heritage, developing cultural industry in a professional, modern, creative and highly competitive direction; taking the preservation of heritage values as the foundation and driving force for development; taking cultural development, building ecological civilization, saving resources and protecting the environment as the focus.

In particular, the performance "Green carpet on the waves" conveyed the message about the significance of preserving and promoting the value of the World Natural Wonder Heritage to become a Green Heritage.
