Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly and summarizing the emulation movement "Old age - bright example"

Comrade Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit of the Provincial People's Committee to individuals with outstanding achievements.

The delegates reviewed the 30-year tradition of formation and development of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly. In Ninh Binh , under the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and the guidance and direction of the Central Standing Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the Provincial Association of the Elderly has grown steadily, becoming a reliable support for the Party, government and people.

The province currently has more than 158,900 elderly members. Over the years, the Association has performed well its function of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly, while creating a healthy and beneficial playground for generations of elderly people, thereby contributing to building a fair, democratic and civilized society. Especially in the period of 2021-2025, the Association of the Elderly at all levels in the province has affirmed its core role in caring for and promoting the role of the elderly.

Over the past 5 years, the work of caring for the material and spiritual life of elderly members has been given attention and focus. The whole province has more than 24,600 elderly people being congratulated and celebrated with a total cost of about 8.6 billion VND; over 100,000 gifts were given to elderly people in difficult circumstances on holidays and Tet; 100% of elderly people have health insurance cards...

Summing up the emulation movement "Old age - bright example" for the period 2021-2025, the whole province has 9,000 elderly people participating in Party and government building work; over 40,000 elderly people directly participate in labor production, economic development, of which over 1,520 elderly people are good at economics. Along with that, the elderly actively participate in the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", promoting the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, civilized urban areas". The whole Association has nearly 1,000 cultural, artistic, sports clubs, 159 intergenerational self-help clubs in 125/125 communes, wards and towns operating effectively. Every year, 95% of elderly families achieve the title of cultural family...

Comrade Tong Quang Thin, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the conference.

On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Mr. Tong Quang Thin, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented flowers and congratulated the Provincial Association of the Elderly; at the same time, acknowledged and commended the positive contributions of the Provincial Association of the Elderly in the recent past.

In response to the development requirements of the province in the new period, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Association of the Elderly to continue to promote its role and responsibility, focusing on implementing a number of contents: proactively innovating the content and methods of operation; building a strong Association, performing well the role of representing the legitimate and legal rights and interests of members; developing members and organizing the Association at the grassroots level; performing well the work of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the elderly; caring for and helping the elderly in difficult circumstances; proactively coordinating with functional agencies to research and advise on resources to effectively implement policies, ensure social security for the elderly, the National Action Program on the Elderly for the period 2021-2030; encouraging the elderly to participate in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns; strongly promote the role of the elderly in participating in Party and government building, promoting intelligence and experience, contributing to local socio-economic development, building a great national unity bloc in residential areas; prepare to participate in giving opinions on the organization of the Association, the operation mechanism of the Association after implementing a two-level government at the local level and merging administrative units at the commune and provincial levels...

At the conference, 10 outstanding individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee; 29 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial Association of the Elderly for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Old age - bright example" for the period 2021-2025.
