Celebrating the 133rd Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh in Algeria

On the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023), on May 18, the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria held a flower offering ceremony in memory of him at Ho Chi Minh Avenue in the capital Algiers. According to a VNA reporter in Algiers, the flower offering ceremony was attended by all officials and staff of the Embassy, ​​Vietnamese agencies in Algeria as well as representatives of the local government and youth association, Raïs Hamidou ward, of the capital Algiers.

Speaking with representatives of local authorities and Algerian people at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh emphasized the significance of the road named after President Ho Chi Minh in honoring the great leader of Vietnam as well as maintaining and promoting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria.

On this occasion, Mr. Djamel Belamou, Chairman of Rais Hamidou ward - where the avenue named after Uncle Ho is located, also expressed his admiration for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh, who brought great encouragement to the national liberation struggle of Algeria in particular and of exploited peoples around the world in general, and affirmed that he will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria in activities honoring President Ho Chi Minh.

Also as part of the activities to celebrate Uncle Ho's birthday, on the morning of May 19, the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria and its agencies offered incense at the place of worship and the grounds of Uncle Ho's statue at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy. In addition, the Embassy Party cell also organized a thematic meeting to introduce the poetic play "The Rubber Sandal Man" by the famous Algerian writer Kateb Yacine, a work that depicts the qualities of a heroic, resilient, and indomitable Vietnamese people throughout history as well as the image of leader Ho Chi Minh from the perspective of a foreign author.
