New era seen from VinFuture Prize

The main prize of VinFuture 2024, one of the largest science and technology prizes on the planet founded by Vietnamese people, has been awarded to those who pioneer and develop platforms for artificial intelligence.

Receiving international scientists and experts who are visiting Vietnam and attending the 2024 VinFuture Prize ceremony, the General Secretary emphasized that the VinFuture Prize is not only the most valuable annual science award but also a testament to the spirit of learning, the aspiration to reach out to the world, absorbing the quintessence of humanity of the Vietnamese people, making Vietnam a pioneering country in science - technology and innovation. In fact, what the VinFuture Prize creates and aims for is clearly demonstrating the aspiration to rise in the new era of every Vietnamese citizen and business to contribute to creating an era of rising for the nation. First, the prize founded by Vietnamese people is increasingly affirming its international stature in terms of scale, quality and goals when gathering hundreds of the world's most outstanding minds in key fields and contributing to shaping the development of the world in the future, such as materials science, artificial intelligence, medicine, environment... It is impossible not to mention that in the list of previous VinFuture Prize winners, there are up to 4 scientists who were also honored at the Nobel Prize later. This is the basis for Professor Quarraisha Abdool Karim, President of the World Academy of Sciences and a member of the VinFuture Prize Preliminary Council, to affirm that "winning the prize of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, the chance to win the Nobel Prize is very high". More importantly, after 4 seasons, VinFuture has become a bridge bringing the world's leading scientists to Vietnam, many of whom do not know and have not had the opportunity to come to Vietnam. The first season of VinFuture Prize took place when the world had just experienced the Covid-19 pandemic and was awarded to 3 scientists Katalin Kariko, Drew Weissman (USA) and Pieter Cullis (Canada) with mRNA technology, paving the way to create effective vaccines to prevent Covid-19. VinFuture 2022 honored 4 scientific works "Revival and Reconstruction" of the world. The VinFuture 2023 Prize honors 4 scientific works "Global Cooperation" and the latest as mentioned above, VinFuture 2024 with the message "Resilient Breakthrough" was awarded to those who paved the way and developed the foundation for artificial intelligence. Let me quote the words of NVIDIA President Jensen Huang, one of the 5 recipients of the main VinFuture 2024 Prize, answering the press after receiving the award: "If you can empathize with the needs of the community, you will create products and solutions that are well received.
