During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, extreme weather events such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail may occur; widespread heat waves may have adverse effects on people's health.
Sharing with reporters of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, on the afternoon of April 15, a representative of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydro-Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) said that during the upcoming April 30 and May 1 holidays, the weather across the country will have many fluctuations, notably a widespread heat wave right before the holidays.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the April 30 and May 1 holidays in 2025 will last for 5 days - this is also the period coinciding with the transitional season in the Northern and Central regions, so extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind may occur, especially in the late afternoon.
Widespread heat can also have adverse effects on people's health, increase the risk of fires and forest fires, and affect production and daily life.
Specifically, during the holiday from April 29 to May 4, the weather in the Northern region will generally have little rain, and temperatures will increase again; around May 3-4, there may be hot weather.
In the Central region, the heat continues but is not as severe as in mid-April; the Southern region continues to experience widespread heat with temperatures ranging from 34-37 degrees Celsius.
Providing more information about the weather situation before the holiday, a representative of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that from April 17, mountainous areas from Nghe An to Quang Ngai provinces began to experience widespread heat waves, with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places above 37 degrees Celsius.
From April 18, heat waves will spread to the Central region, the Northern Delta and midlands (including the capital Hanoi ) and the Southern region.
Therefore, the meteorological agency forecasts that the highest temperature during the day on the above days in the Northern region (including Hanoi) will generally be from 35-37 degrees Celsius, some places over 38 degrees Celsius; the Central region from 36-39 degrees Celsius, some places over 39 degrees Celsius; the Southern region 35-37 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave in the coming days in the North and Central regions is likely to last until April 23, while in the South - it is likely to continue to be hot for many more days.
From around April 23-28, due to the influence of weak cold air, the Northern region is likely to experience showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping slightly. In the Central region, the heat wave will narrow down, only occurring locally.
People need to "stick" to weather reports
With the above meteorological trends, representatives of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting recommend that people regularly monitor weather forecasts to proactively prevent and ensure safety for production, daily life and tourism activities during the holidays.
Information from the Department of Hydrometeorology also said that to ensure that weather information is provided promptly, accurately and fully to serve people, tourism activities, travel as well as event organization during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, this agency has directed the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting to coordinate with relevant units to develop a detailed plan for weather forecasting and warning during the period from April 15 to May 5, 2025.
According to this plan, from April 20, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting will increase the frequency of issuing forecast bulletins, while closely monitoring and providing early warnings of dangerous weather phenomena.
In particular, the meteorological agency will focus on forecasting and warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds at sea, hail, etc. to help people, local authorities and related units proactively prevent and minimize damage.
In particular, the national hydrometeorological forecasting agency will focus on forecasting areas where major events are held across the country, ensuring that information is continuously updated and realistic, effectively serving the organization and ensuring safety for outdoor activities during the holidays./.
