Japanese electric car maker Aspark is celebrating after its Aspark Owl broke the electric car speed record on May 23, 2023 at nearly 320km/h (200 mph), Reuters reported on May 24.
The Aspark Owl supercar's speed test site is Alvington Airport in northern England, with a test track about 500m long.

In testing, the all-electric supercar reached a top speed of 318.85 km/h (or 198.12 mph).
The speed record was set under the auspices and witness of the UK Record Association.
By design, the supercar in the test is capable of accelerating from 0 - 100km/h in 1.72 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 350km/h and an operating range of about 400km, and taking 40 minutes to fully charge the battery at a fast charging station.
The electric motors on the car have a total maximum capacity of 1,980 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque.
It doesn't come cheap, though - to buy one of the first 50 cars, the list price is £2.5 million, or $3.1 million each.
Based in Osaka (Japan), electric vehicle company Aspark has been developing extremely high-performance supercars under the Aspark Owl brand since 2015, with the number of cars produced limited to only a few dozen.
It is a growing company, currently with over 3,500 employees (2022) and 25 offices worldwide.
