A biology teacher at Phan Ngoc Hien High School (Nam Can District, Ca Mau) has just been disciplined for accepting 7 million VND to tutor students retaking the literature exam with the reason that the fee was unreasonable.
On January 3, according to a source from Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Do Van De, Principal of Phan Ngoc Hien High School (Nam Can District, Ca Mau), confirmed to Thanh Nien reporter that the school had implemented a disciplinary decision to reprimand Mr. NCN, a biology teacher at the school. This disciplinary decision was signed on December 19, 2024.
The reason for the discipline is that Mr. NCN received money to tutor students for re-exams at an unreasonable price, causing bad public opinion and affecting the reputation of the school's teaching staff, individuals and colleagues.
Previously, Mr. NCN was accused by a teacher at the school of receiving money to influence student NTĐ.K (a student in class 11C5, of which Mr. N. is the homeroom teacher, in the 2022-2023 school year) to pass the class for an amount of 7 million VND. The school then transferred the case to the investigation agency, requesting verification of Mr. N's violation.
Specifically, on December 29, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Can District Police received an official dispatch from Phan Ngoc Hien High School regarding the transfer of the case file for consideration of violations against Mr. NCN. One day later, on December 30, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency of Nam Can District Police sent a reply to Phan Ngoc Hien High School. The reply stated that, through studying the case file, it was found that at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. NCN arbitrarily organized extra classes in literature for student NTĐ.K, of whom he was the homeroom teacher, with the consent of K's parents. Therefore, there is no basis to determine that Mr. NCN took advantage of his assigned expertise and profession to coerce and extort money from parents to inflate the re-exam scores or improve K's conduct, so there is no sign of a crime.
It is known that in the complaint file, the complainant provided a lot of evidence, including a recording of a parent recounting the story of his child's homeroom teacher asking him to transfer money so that his child could influence his class and the accused transferred the money back after the incident was discovered. In addition, the complaint also included a number of issues related to management, revenue and expenditure, investment in facilities, emulation and rewards, and other activities at Phan Ngoc Hien High School...
On January 3, Mr. Tran Ngoc Len, Deputy Inspector of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau, said that the content of the petition did not meet the conditions to be considered a denunciation but was within the scope of a recommendation or reflection. The Department Inspectorate will still conduct verification to respond to the petitioner.
