The forum took place within the framework of the visit and work of Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat to Vietnam from August 14-17, aiming to further deepen economic and trade cooperation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic relations.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien expressed his delight at witnessing the remarkable developments in the Vietnam-Israel relationship in recent times, especially in the economic and trade fields. The 30-year journey of diplomatic relations between the two countries has achieved positive developments, creating momentum for economic and trade development.
In particular, the Minister of Industry and Trade said that the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries shows that economic and trade cooperation is always an important field and has much potential in the Vietnam-Israel relationship. Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien hopes that Israeli businesses will continue to research and soon have new investment projects in Vietnam.
"The Ministry of Industry and Trade is ready to coordinate with the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam to support businesses of the two countries in implementing cooperation in the future. We are committed to creating all favorable conditions in accordance with the law to help Israeli businesses invest, produce and do business in Vietnam," he emphasized.
Also at the forum, Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat highly appreciated the role of the Vietnam-Israel FTA (VIFTA). He affirmed that the signing of VIFTA is a major milestone and the direct flight between Vietnam and Israel is the next step for us to have more ideas to bring the relationship between the two countries to a new level.
According to Mr. Nir Barkat, Vietnam is considered a gateway for Israel to access the ASEAN region, which has a population of nearly 700 million people.
The Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry said that, looking at the potential of each country, Israel is increasingly asserting its position in the international arena with advantages in high-tech science and technology, and the ability to develop technological applications to serve the manufacturing industry, especially electronics technology, high-tech agriculture, etc.
On the contrary, Vietnam is currently considered the most dynamic economy in the region and the world, including the third largest economy in ASEAN with a GDP of more than 410 billion USD in 2022. The economic growth rate in 2022 will also reach over 8%, the highest level in the past 12 years, the macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled...
Not only that, the Southeast Asian country is also one of the top 20 economies in international trade with import and export turnover reaching nearly 735 billion USD in 2022.
In terms of investment, Vietnam is highly appreciated and is a safe investment destination with nearly 36,000 projects from 141 countries and territories with a total registered capital of over 435 billion USD.

To make the most of the advantages that VIFTA brings, Director of the Asia-Africa Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Tran Quang Huy said that in the coming time, the business communities of the two countries need to increase investment and participate in trade promotion programs.
On the other hand, Vietnam also proposed that Israel research and transfer technology to Vietnamese enterprises through various forms of joint ventures and partnerships. This would create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to produce technological products with high added value such as manufacturing components, semiconductors, food, etc.
The Southeast Asian country is also ready to cooperate with Israel in the field of human resource training to improve technology and production levels, electronics technology and high-tech agriculture, green production, etc.
Within the framework of the forum, the two Ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Vietnamese and Israeli enterprises.
In addition, guests and representatives of Vietnamese and Israeli businesses shared information, success stories between businesses of the two countries, and development orientations in the coming time.
