On the evening of November 13, the Miss Universe Vietnam homepage announced 'Ngoc Diep Ky Nam' as Ky Duyen's official national costume at Miss Universe 2024. The design is the work of designer Dang Tran Tri, with advice from designer Nguyen Minh Cong.
Inspired by the Butterfly Parasol of the Nguyen Dynasty in the 20th century, the costume honors the ingenuity and meticulousness of ancient artisans, while telling the story of the strong vitality and transformation of Vietnamese culture.
The outfit combines a traditional Nhat Binh shirt, with delicate hand-embroidered details and sparkling stones, helping Ky Duyen recreate the image of an elegant, shy royal woman who still exudes nobility.
When the parasol opens, it creates the image of "cocoon turning into butterfly" symbolizing the transformation of both Ky Duyen and Vietnam through ups and downs, rising strongly to move towards a bright future.
The design uses pink, purple and blue as the main colors, creating a blend of modern and traditional femininity. The butterfly motifs are cleverly arranged on the wings, creating a vivid effect, like an art painting moving with each rotation of Ky Duyen.
Ky Duyen is now nearly halfway through the Miss Universe 2024 competition. In sideline activities, the Vietnamese representative impressed with her attractive, confident demeanor and diverse fashion style.
On the 10th day of the competition, the beauty site Sash Factor announced the rankings of outstanding contestants. Ky Duyen was in the top 10 most outstanding contestants. Previously, the Vietnamese representative had also been in the top positions many times in this ranking.
A few days ago, Ky Duyen appeared on the Miss Universe homepage with the highest number of interactions. The photo of the Vietnamese representative currently receives more than 382,000 likes. In addition, Ky Duyen was also chosen to become the advertising face for brands such as Pandora, Vizzano, Tasty Green during her journey to participate in the contest.
Ky Duyen has also just reached 1.8 million followers on her personal Instagram page. After a few days of competing in the contest, she has increased her followers by more than 100 thousand. This number helps Ky Duyen enter the top of the beauties with the most followers on Instagram at Miss Universe 2024.
According to the Miss Universe 2024 schedule, the national costume show and semi-final will take place on November 14. Initial information shows that the evening gown competition will not be included in the semi-final night according to the new format announced by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO).
