On the morning of October 1, on the sidelines of the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024, Mr. Nick Clegg, Chairman of Global External Relations of Meta, shared with the press about some of Meta's commitments and plans for the Vietnamese market.

This is Mr. Nick Clegg's first visit to Vietnam as Chairman of Meta. Before taking on the role of Meta's leader, Mr. Nick Clegg spent 20 years working in Europe and the UK.

Sharing with reporters, Meta's Chairman said that from now until the end of the year, Meta will deploy an artificial intelligence (AI) virtual assistant for businesses in Vietnam. The AI ​​assistant will be integrated into the Messenger application, businesses can use it to interact with customers, thereby improving productivity.

Mr. Nick Clegg also confirmed that Meta's Quest 3S (VR glasses) headset will be manufactured in Vietnam.

“ We will work with local partners to manufacture Quest 3S in Vietnam. This will create more than 1,000 new jobs, putting Vietnam at the center of the world map of metaverse products and technologies, ” said Nick Clegg.

During his visit to Vietnam, the Vice President of Meta also announced that he would deploy Meta AI, an AI assistant capable of interacting and talking like a human. Meta AI will be integrated on Meta platforms such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp... users can ask questions and receive answers as if they were talking to a human.

Vietnam will be one of the pioneering countries in implementing Meta AI, much earlier than some European countries.

“ We have not deployed Meta AI in Europe, but will deploy it in Vietnam in Vietnamese, completely free for users, ” shared Meta Vice President.

According to Mr. Nick Clegg, the three commitments mentioned above demonstrate Meta's trust in Vietnam, in the dynamically developing online market in Vietnam, as well as belief in Vietnam's successful development in the future.

When asked to compare Vietnam's digital economy with other countries in the region, Vice President of Meta said that Vietnam is currently a leading country because it has three basic and important elements: a young population, a good education foundation, and the ability to effectively use digital technologies in daily life.

“ We can only use AI well if we understand it, and we can only understand it with goodeducation and training. This is why Meta focuses on implementing courses and teaching about AI, ” said Mr. Nick Clegg.

At the same time, he also said that Meta will cooperate with Hanoi National University to build AI competency courses for students, deployed from January 2025.

Sharing about the environment, Mr. Nick Clegg said that Meta has great confidence in the investment environment in Vietnam. The company that owns the social network Facebook hopes that Vietnam will continue to maintain its strengths in attracting foreign investment, with consistency, ease of understanding, ease of implementation, and following international technology and standards when issuing new legal documents.

“ Vietnam has a high potential to become a regional power, because you have all the basic elements to take advantage of AI as a driving force for growth and use digital tools more and more effectively, ” said Vice President of Meta.
