Mr. Vo Hong Son (Tu Thuy 2 village, Tu An commune, An Khe town) said: After a period of research and inviting some lychee growers in Kbang district to survey his family's 3 hectares of land, in 2014, he decided to buy 600 lychee trees to plant on an area of 1.5 hectares. On the remaining land, he invested in building a barn to raise breeding cows and dug a pond to raise fish.
“My lychee garden yields an average of 10-12 tons of lychee/ha/crop, some years reaching 15 tons. With this model, each year, after deducting expenses, I earn a profit of 200-300 million VND. My production model has been recognized by the People's Committee of An Khe town as a comprehensive farm,” Mr. Son shared.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the whole province has 412 farms, including 166 crop farms, 137 livestock farms, 102 mixed farms, 2 aquaculture farms... On average, each farm has an area of about 5.5 hectares.

According to the assessment of the professional agency, currently, most of the farms in the province are operating stably, the farm owners are interested in investing in facilities, applying scientific and technical advances in production to improve economic efficiency. Many localities have formed specialized farms focusing on growing coffee, durian, fruit trees or raising livestock and poultry, contributing to increasing the value of a land area.
Some typical farms that are bringing high economic efficiency include: the pig and chicken farm of Mr. Vo Van Hau (Nhien village, Nghia Hung commune, Chu Pah district); the lychee and longan farm of Mr. Pham Van Thong (Tu Thuy 4 village, Tu An commune, An Khe town)...

Mr. Vu Ngoc An - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - said: In recent years, the farm economic model has had remarkable developments. Farm production and business activities are increasingly developing, creating jobs for many local workers, increasing income for people.
In particular, the development of farm economy has contributed to the effective exploitation and use of agricultural land resources, capital sources, and the promotion of the application of science and technology to create many high-quality products for the market. However, the technical production process of farms is not synchronized, and the price of input materials for production is still high, which has significantly affected the operation of farms.
In addition, some pig and cow farms have not linked production with product consumption, leading to unstable output. In addition, the investment cost for building environmental treatment systems is large, so farms face many difficulties in production and business activities.
“In the coming time, the Department will coordinate with relevant agencies and units to strengthen the dissemination of legal regulations and policies on farm economic development; open training courses to improve production and business management capacity for farm owners; guide farm owners to convert crop and livestock structures appropriately towards improving productivity and quality. At the same time, the Department will act as a bridge to support farm owners in linking production with product consumption, increasing support for trade promotion, etc.
In addition, it is recommended that central levels and sectors have policies to encourage the development of farm economy and build typical farm models in agriculture," added the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
