Digital economy helps strengthen regional connectivity
According to 2023 statistics from the National Committee on Digital Transformation, Vietnam's digital transformation has achieved many positive results such as Vietnam's Innovation Index in 2023 ranked 46/132, up 2 places compared to 2022, continuously maintaining in the top 50 countries from 2018 to present.
Vietnam's Postal Index in 2023 reached level 6/10, up 1 level compared to 2021, ranking 38th. Vietnam is the country with the fastest digital economic growth rate in Southeast Asia for two consecutive years 2022 and 2023.
E-commerce increased by 11%, digital tourism economy increased by 82%, digital payment increased by 19%. According to the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), the digital economy in 2023 contributed about 16.5% of GDP.
In recent times, many provinces/cities in the region have paid attention to and strongly promoted digital transformation on all three pillars: digital government, digital economy and digital society. In particular, the digital economy has achieved many developments.
Many provinces/cities in the region have achieved high rankings in the 2022 DTI provincial digital transformation rankings such as Da Nang, Lam Dong, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh. However, overall, digital transformation in the South Central and Central Highlands regions is uneven, with a large gap between Da Nang and other localities in the region.
Da Nang - Smart tourism ecosystem from digital transformation
At the workshop, Ms. Le Thi Ai Diep, Head of Accommodation Management Department (Da Nang City Department of Tourism) said that promoting the application of digital transformation is one of the important, necessary and key solutions to improve competitiveness, create momentum and early development of Da Nang tourism industry.
Promoting technology application and digital transformation will help the tourism industry exploit values from the digital environment more effectively, improve competitiveness, recover and develop more sustainably.
Specifically, Da Nang city has issued many policies and guidelines on digital transformation, in which the tourism industry has effectively applied information technology and digital transformation by implementing 100% of level 4 online public services, with the rate of online records reaching 100%.
The Department of Tourism actively supports businesses in digital transformation through activities such as: issuing a plan for digital transformation of the tourism industry until 2025, with a vision to 2030; organizing in-depth training programs on how to implement digital transformation in tourism businesses, continuing to search for and introduce businesses providing digital transformation solutions for tourism businesses such as: implementing non-cash payment methods; using electronic tickets; explanation models via QR Code;
Applications of virtual reality technology, augmented reality VR/AR,... to tourist attractions and landscapes of the area to enhance the experience and convenience for visitors, contributing to introducing the image and beauty of the city to domestic and foreign tourists...
The Department of Tourism has put into operation applications to promote Da Nang tourism as well as support businesses in introducing and promoting products and services and supporting tourists when visiting Da Nang: Chatbot, Tourism Information Portal, Danang Fantasticity Tourism Application, online fair, virtual tourism system "One touch to Da Nang"; piloting smart tourism cards and online payments to promote the image of Da Nang destination, providing information and supporting tourists when visiting Da Nang.
At the same time, support businesses in introducing products and services to create added value for tourism products and services as well as support tourism businesses in accessing digital transformation solutions to improve operational efficiency and competitiveness.
The videos provide 360-degree views of the hotel and restaurant spaces along with other landscapes, using smart room applications in the guest rooms… and linking with reputable tourism information sites and social media channels to promote Da Nang tourism. Organize online conferences on the web platform to introduce Da Nang tourism to the international market.
With the successful implementation of digital transformation in the tourism sector, the tourism brand and attractiveness of Da Nang destination have continued to be demonstrated through many prestigious international tourism titles and awards along with the favorite choice of tourists: Top favorite destinations in Asia in 2022 voted by Trip Advisor (the world famous American travel website) and ranked 3rd in Southeast Asia's top destinations in 2022;
