Kim Jong Un attended a meeting with veterans who held key positions held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium the previous day, the Korean Central News Agency (KNCA) reported.

Mr Kim Jong Un did not give a speech, but Mr Ri Il-hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, called on the younger generation to honor veterans.
In addition to events attended by Kim Jong Un, KCNA said a series of events, including art performances and sports events, were held across North Korea to mark the holiday.

Key North Korean officials have visited and paid their respects at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where the bodies of Kim Jong Un's father Kim Jong Il and his grandfather Kim Il Sung are kept.

The Korean War ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty, in 1953. So technically, the two Koreas are still at war. North Korea calls July 27 "Victory Day," while South Korea does not hold any major events to mark the day.
