This morning, October 21 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in collaboration with the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) organized the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition 2024 (GEFE 2024).

Attending the program were Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Mr. Phan Van Mai - Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, along with leaders of ministries, branches, Government Office, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Planning and Investment; leaders of provinces and centrally run cities; associations, industries and Vietnamese enterprises.
On the EU side, there were Mr. Margaritis Schinas, Vice President of the European Commission; Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCharm); Mr. Alain Cany - Co-Chair of the GEFE Organizing Committee, and Chairman of the EuroCham Vietnam Advisory Board; along with Leaders of the European Union Delegation to Vietnam, Leaders of Ministries, sectors, international organizations in EU countries, Ambassadors, Consuls General of some European countries in Vietnam, Leaders of EuroCham and EU businesses, experts, speakers, scientists from Europe.
The event, themed "Creating a Green Future", aims to help Vietnamese businesses access initiatives and solutions to accelerate the green transformation process. Experts also update new regulations and policies from Europe to help businesses adjust their strategies to global standards. This is also a practical activity in the process of effectively implementing the National Growth Strategy for the 2021-2030 period that has been set out.

The event featured more than 30 panel discussions spanning 10 green themes and a high-level opening session. The panels discussed emerging green topics in Vietnam and policy and standards approaches to the EU market.
Specifically, 10 workshop sessions with the following topics: Renewable energy and energy efficiency; Sustainable finance; Decarbonization in commercial production; Green construction & buildings; Circular economy; Solutions to the water crisis; Sustainable food & agriculture; Sustainable tourism; Digitalization and new technology; Strengthening green human resources.
In addition, the event also attracted more than 200 booths displaying products, initiatives, and technologies related to sustainable development. 13 of these are countries that have recorded many achievements in green transformation such as the UK, Norway, and Switzerland. 30 spaces are dedicated to domestic green initiatives. The Netherlands alone - a pioneer in the circular economic transformation - has up to 50 booths introducing new green technology and renewable energy.
According to Mr. Alain Cany - Co-Chair of the GEFE Organizing Committee and Chairman of the EuroCham Vietnam Advisory Board, with the theme "Building a Green Future", this year, GEFE aims to promote innovation, economic growth, and promote sustainability. This is also the first time that the EU has had close cooperation not only within the EU community but also beyond that framework with activities of some non-EU countries such as Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, etc.
The event takes place over 3 days from October 21 to October 23 at Thiso Mall Sala (No. 10, Mai Chi Tho Street, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City).
Within the framework of the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition in 2024, the Trade Promotion Agency organized the Vietnam Pavilion with the participation of 24 Vietnamese multi-industry enterprises to introduce and display advanced technologies, high-quality products, initiatives and green and circular economic models of enterprises. In addition, to support Vietnamese enterprises to directly access leading European corporations and enterprises in various fields, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a Business-to-Business (B2B) Conference between Vietnamese and European enterprises. This is a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the European and Vietnamese business communities, contributing to promoting a green and sustainable Vietnamese economy through sharing initiatives, ideas and technology transfer. |
