At the age of 19, I realized that childhood experiences play a very important role in the maturity of each individual. I had an unforgettable childhood as a young athlete competing in the An Giang Provincial Karate Tournament. I came to karate when I was just entering secondary school. I learned martial arts with the desire to defend myself, and furthermore, to protect my loved ones. At first, I asked my father to let me join a club near my house, with two disciplines: Vovinam and Taekwondo, from Monday to Saturday every week. I also practiced extra hours in a group coached by the highest-ranking teachers at the club. My suitable qualities and diligence were highly appreciated by the teachers. The flame of love for martial arts became stronger and was the premise for me to confidently learn a new martial art. When the teachers opened a karate class, I was trusted to train with the goal of competing. The training process was quite urgent, causing me and my fellow students to be under a lot of pressure. Our group of young martial artists all won medals in both the martial arts and sparring events. As for me, that year I won a gold medal in the mixed martial arts team event. The joy was not only because of the feeling of receiving the first prize money in my life but also because of every moment of fighting side by side with my brothers, sisters and friends. The memories are hard to describe in words.
It is the passion for martial arts that has given Ba Hy strength on every journey.
When I went to university, I chose the logistics field instead of pursuing a career as a professional athlete. But the days of hard work on the stage equipped me with a proactive mindset and lifestyle, constantly striving to improve. Like even when I didn't know which punch was effective, I still kept fighting. Even when my arms and legs were covered in bruises, I still kept fighting. Fighting for my teachers, my teammates, my family who always loved me and fighting for myself. There were times when I wanted to run away from opponents who were taller, stronger, more experienced than me... but it was the strong desire to develop that gave me the motivation not to give up. In addition to studying, I still aim to improve my physical fitness, get acquainted with other sports, and be ready to explore the world with a spirit of dedication and learning.
In my opinion, being persistent with what you choose and having a vision for the future are the things that young people should have.
