On August 31, the People's Committee of Long An province organized a workshop to share experiences in implementing digital transformation in the health sector between the Department of Health of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City.

At the workshop, representatives of the health departments of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region reported, shared experiences, made recommendations, and proposed solutions in digital transformation for the health sector in general and their local health sector in particular.

Mr. Huynh Minh Phuc, Director of the Department of Health of Long An province, highly appreciated the fact that in recent times, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City has supported the health departments of provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region in digital transformation as well as in expertise to improve health care for people.

The Director of the Department of Health of Long An province said that the provincial health sector is currently focusing on building digital transformation solutions on suitable application platforms such as: Centralized data warehouse management system; remote medical examination and treatment platform; Electronic health records;... The goal by 2025, Long An will achieve 95% of people having electronic health records.

To achieve the above goal, Long An province proactively initiated electronic records for people to connect with the V20 grassroots health management platform of the Ministry of Health. Thereby, continuing to coordinate with the local health sector, especially Ho Chi Minh City, to remove difficulties related to system connection and strengthen the grassroots health care system... Towards positive and comprehensive changes in management, medical examination and treatment, and health care for people.

According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong, Director of the Department of Health of Can Tho City, the current difficulty of the health sector is that many units and individuals have not kept up with the digital transformation process, especially the role of the leader. Along with that, the infrastructure and equipment are not guaranteed; the information system, database, and software are still fragmented and not connected to each other;...

Mr. Hoang Quoc Cuong also shared the orientation and digital transformation needs of the Can Tho City Health sector by 2030. In particular, building a medical application ecosystem towards user satisfaction.

Also at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, shared 5 conditions for digital transformation activities of the city's Health Sector: Clearly identifying digital transformation as one of the important solutions to help develop the health system; strengthening specialized departments, advising the Department of Health to effectively manage this activity in the health sector; implementing an assessment of the current status of IT application at affiliated medical facilities; developing and issuing recommendations related to digital transformation activities; discovering, introducing and replicating good models and practices.
