On December 10, the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police issued a decision to supplement the prosecution and arrest of Mr. Tran Minh Vu (born in 1967), former Chairman of Tan Hiep District People's Committee, for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property". Mr. Vu currently resides in Tan Hiep town, Tan Hiep district, Kien Giang province.
Previously, Mr. Vu was prosecuted for "Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences" and was subject to a ban on leaving his place of residence.

According to the results of the additional investigation, Mr. Tran Minh Vu helped register the 5,850 m2 land plot owned by Ms. Tran Thi Thanh (Sua Dua Hamlet, Vinh Hoa Hiep Commune, Chau Thanh District, Kien Giang Province) at the request of the defendant Thach Thi Hieu. After being granted a land use right certificate in his name, Mr. Vu helped Hieu borrow 500 million VND from the bank using this property.
Not stopping there, Mr. Vu continued to support Hieu in transferring the above land plot to Ms. Vu Thi Chau, helping Ms. Chau borrow a larger amount of money from the bank. After borrowing the money, Ms. Chau and Hieu transferred this land plot, along with many other land plots, to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong to appropriate a total of 9 billion VND.
Mr. Vu's actions helped Thach Thi Hieu appropriate the land plot of Ms. Tran Thi Thanh, with an estimated value of more than 4.5 billion VND.
Previously, the defendants Thach Thi Hieu and Vu Thi Chau (both residing in Tan Hiep district) were temporarily detained by the Investigation Police Agency of Kien Giang Province Police for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
The case is continuing to be investigated and clarified by the authorities for handling according to the law.
