Checking and supervising measles prevention and control work in Lao Cai

At the Kim Tan Ward Health Station, the delegation of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology highly appreciated the direction of the local government on disease prevention through the issued documents. They especially appreciated the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign and the effective monitoring and propaganda work on disease prevention and control in the community.

The delegation conducted inspection and supervision at the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

On March 28, the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital received and treated 30 patients with measles. The unit simultaneously implemented many measures to control the epidemic and provide effective treatment, ensuring infection control in the treatment of lung disease cases, and closely monitoring cases with complications.

From the beginning of 2025 to March 25, 2025, the whole province recorded 2,161 measles cases in 9/9 districts, towns and cities.

The delegation worked with the Center for Disease Control of Lao Cai province.

At the working session with the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the delegation of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology highly appreciated the drastic participation of the health sector and localities in disease prevention and control, especially the investigation, supervision and good implementation of isolation and treatment of cases.

The delegation requested the Lao Cai health sector to expand community surveillance and investigation in areas with cases; strengthen epidemiological surveillance, early detection and timely containment of outbreaks; synchronously carry out patient admission and treatment and infection control in hospitals.

Strengthening vaccination management on national vaccination records.

Strengthen propaganda to raise awareness in disease prevention, resolutely implement the measles vaccination campaign, especially the catch-up vaccination for groups of people who have not been fully vaccinated; promote propaganda to raise people's awareness of the importance of disease prevention vaccines; strengthen vaccination management on national vaccination records to facilitate the review and investigation of cases.
