The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just sent an official dispatch guiding the organization of the final examination of the first semester, primary school level, for the 2023-2024 school year to the heads of the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts. The official dispatch was signed by Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, on December 19, 2023.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the final exam of the first semester is to evaluate the progress of students, to encourage and motivate students to make the most of their efforts in studying and training; to help students maximize their abilities; to ensure timeliness, fairness and objectivity.

Based on the results of students' periodic tests, teachers will adjust the teaching plan in a timely manner; choose appropriate teaching methods and organize forms to promote students' abilities and qualities. At the same time, from here, there will be specific plans to foster, support and tutor each student.

"Absolutely do not create pressure for students with periodic tests, just consider it a normal daily assessment activity for them," said the leader of the Department of Education and Training.

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, primary schools need to develop review plans for students and have separate tutoring plans for weak students; announce the final exam schedule for the first semester, and coordinate with families to prepare good learning conditions for students.

"Absolutely do not chase after achievements to cope, put pressure, create a tense and heavy atmosphere for teachers, students and their families. Reviewing is done right in the classroom, do not assign homework for classes that have 2 sessions/day; do not prepare outlines, sample papers for students to do, do not organize memorization of sample papers. Teachers need to guide students on how to self-study and review," the Department of Education and Training directed.

Avoid checking near holidays or other significant dates.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training noted that the time for organizing periodic tests of subjects is based on the curriculum framework, and teaching plans from grades 1 to 4 and the distribution of programs, knowledge and skills standards for grade 5. Accordingly, the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City guide primary schools to arrange reasonable and appropriate test times. Localities can flexibly arrange test dates, avoiding holidays prescribed by the state during the year or other meaningful days...
