Jason Siu was born and raised in Honolulu (Hawaii, USA), is a student at the University of Hawaii and does business through the online website Invalid.jd.

When the startup became popular, Jason Siu said he was "really unprepared."

It was in October 2021, after a social media video of one of Jason Siu's products - an LED rearview mirror - went viral, that business began to boom. In an interview with CNBC , Jason Siu revealed that he sometimes earned $12,000 a day.

At that time, Jason Siu had to produce products from his parents' house. Now, he is in his third year of university and the business has brought Jason Siu more than 1 million USD in less than 2 years.

Sell from cheap decals to rearview mirrors, earn millions of dollars

After graduating from high school, Jason Siu worked part-time at a service company and opened an account selling cheap decals. He wanted to earn money to decorate his car - a Nissan Rogue. Jason Siu's car decals were very popular with his peers.

Jason Siu spent his $300 savings on a vinyl printer and sold decals to friends on Snapchat for $3-5 each.

Then he moved on to something more expensive: new parts for his car. This meant selling a higher-margin product.

Despite his success, Jason Siu still works hard in his business.

While tinkering, Jason Siu discovered LED-backlit side mirrors on Instagram. He ordered one for $20, opened the glass cover, and installed LED lights inside, along with his most famous decal: “Drive Safely.”

After replacing the glass, the LED lights make the decals stand out and easy to see.

A friend suggested marketing his products through short-form video platforms, so Jason Siu started posting videos about his products “as often as possible.” A few months later, his videos went viral, and Jason Siu quit his part-time job to focus on his business.

The Importance of Social Media

Initially, to get stable sales, Jason Siu hired advertising on traditional channels, but encountered many difficulties. "I wasted thousands of dollars and could barely break even. I even lost money for several months and that almost made me lose motivation to do business" - Jason Siu recalled.

Then, to save costs, Jason Siu decided to make and post videos on social media himself, maintaining visibility and advertising as often as possible.

Surprisingly, Jason Siu's homegrown videos attracted public attention. As traffic increased, he continuously added new product lines (cup holders, sunshades, and license plates), and customized flexible sales methods (wholesale, retail, and dropship).

Among them, the two best-selling products are still decals and LED mirrors, which Jason Siu combined to create customizable, color-changing glowing decals with a small remote control.

According to Jason Siu, it was social media advertising that helped his company maintain cash flow, get the business on track, and generate stable and gradually increasing net profits.

Jason Siu's constant video uploading has brought him huge profits. However, he still focuses on studying for half the day and spends the other half on business.

Currently, Jason Siu rents a private warehouse for $1,500 a month to produce. His mother and girlfriend help manage and pack orders. He recently hired a few more employees to help him shoot and edit videos.

Jason Siu is not sure how long it will take to succeed, but he believes that he has discovered new breakthrough ideas of his own. Those who persevere will surely create their own world - that is what young entrepreneur Jason Siu always believes and strives for.
