Advice for people to use electricity safely before, during and after storm No. 3

Việt NamViệt Nam06/09/2024

To respond to the complex developments of Typhoon No. 3 and ensure the safety of the people and electricity customers before, during, and after the storm, in addition to proactively and urgently implementing response measures, Thanh Hoa Power Company also strengthened its communication and advisory efforts to electricity customers and local people in areas where the power grid passes through, encouraging their cooperation.

The public is advised to use electricity safely before, during, and after Typhoon No. 3.

If a power outage caused by a natural disaster is detected, residents and electricity customers should immediately call 19006769 so that the power company can promptly cut off the power and handle the problem.

Accordingly, electricity customers and the public are prohibited from using wires or stakes to tie houses, structures, boats, or other vessels to power poles and substations, or from violating the safe distance from power lines, thereby endangering people and livestock and causing power grid failures; and from traveling by boat, raft, etc., in flooded areas where power lines are close to the water surface without ensuring a safe distance to avoid electrical discharge and accidents.

Inspect and reinforce power lines and poles after the meter, ensuring that power lines are not broken or submerged in water during heavy rain or floods; connections must be secure and wrapped with insulating tape; the insulation of power lines must not be cracked, broken, or peeling; do not tie power lines to metal parts of factories or architectural structures; actively coordinate with local authorities and the local power company to cut and trim trees located within the power line corridor. For tall trees that pose a risk of falling onto power lines, safety measures must be taken to prevent them from falling and causing accidents.

In case of flooding, cut off the power supply to the house (main circuit breaker, automatic switch) and do not touch any electrical appliances or equipment with wet hands or while walking on a wet floor... circuit breakers, fuses, and automatic switches in the house must be placed in a dry place to ensure safety.

During thunderstorms, limit going outside to avoid unexpected incidents such as lightning strikes, broken power lines, fallen utility poles, broken insulators, fallen trees, and electrical leaks. In particular, do not touch utility poles, pole bracing wires, or pole grounding wires, and do not stand under utility poles to prevent electric shock from electrical leaks.

If you discover an electrical fault caused by a natural disaster, such as a fallen or broken power pole or severed power lines, do not approach it and immediately alert everyone nearby. At the same time, isolate the affected area, guard it, and quickly call the Northern Power Corporation's Customer Service hotline at 19006769 so that the local power company can cut off the power and handle the problem.
