Recommendations from the Ministry of Public Security on fake milk lines

(VNA) - Regarding the fake milk ring, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, Deputy Chief of Office, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, said that among the 84 powdered milk products seized during the search, the Investigation Police Agency (C01) identified 12 products with quality indicators of some main substances reaching only less than 70% compared to the announced level, identified as counterfeit goods (fake in quality) according to the provisions of Point b, Clause 7, Article 3 of Decree No. 98/2020/ND-CP dated August 26, 2020 of the Government.

Accordingly, the 12 types of fake milk include: COLOS IQ FOR MUM supplement; COLOS IQ DIABETES supplement; DARIFA A+ ProGold supplement; KENMIL PREMIUM PEDIA GOAT formula nutritional product; SURE IQ SURE GOLD special diet food; Kodo A+ Starter Colostrum 1 formula nutritional product; L'' GRAND COLOSTRUM PEDIA+2 formula nutritional product; Newsure Colos 24h Kid Plus formula nutritional product; Kid Baby Talacmum formula nutritional product; Gludiabet Talacmum special diet food; KASUMI CANXI NANO COLOS 24H special diet food; KASUMI GAIN COLOS 24H 3 nutritional product.

Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen also said that C01 is investigating and clarifying the remaining 72 products.

Regarding the current issue of many famous and prestigious people such as TV editors, actors, KOLs, doctors... participating in false advertising of many food products, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen affirmed that the law strictly prohibits all acts of false advertising, providing incorrect or misleading information about quantity, quality, price, uses, origin, packaging and other factors of products and services.

Regarding false advertising, Major General Tuyen said that based on the nature and severity of the violation, violators will be subject to administrative sanctions as prescribed in Decree 38/2021/ND-CP of the Government regulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of culture and advertising.

In addition, they may be criminally prosecuted for the crime of false advertising, stipulated in Article 197 of the 2015 Penal Code, the crimes of manufacturing and trading in counterfeit goods..., stipulated in Articles 192, 193, 194, 195 of the Penal Code; the crime of fraud to appropriate property, stipulated in Article 174 of the Penal Code and the crime of abuse of trust to appropriate property, stipulated in Article 175 of the Penal Code.

According to Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen, recently, the Ministry of Public Security has directed units to resolutely fight and strictly handle famous people and influential people in society and on cyberspace who use their personal prestige and influence to collude, assist, and abet in promoting and trading in counterfeit food products.

Strict handling aims to create deterrence, warning, and prevention against this type of violation, protect the lives and health of consumers, and at the same time contribute to making the food production and trading market healthy, and making the business sector in cyberspace healthy.

* Advice to consumers about advertising

The Ministry of Public Security's spokesperson said that the case is under investigation. The Ministry of Public Security recommends that people do not use 12 milk products that have been identified as counterfeit and should not use 72 milk products that are under further investigation of Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (Rance Pharma Company) and Hacofood Group Nutrition Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (Hacofood Company).

In addition, Major General Hoang Anh Tuyen also noted that when buying food such as milk, consumers must be alert, cautious and responsible for their own health, should not blindly trust the recommendations of famous people, influencers on the internet, need to choose reputable milk brands, specific and clear addresses, do not buy floating products, unknown origin, origin; check product packaging, manufacturer information, expiry date, batch number.

When detecting cases with signs of false advertising, violations of the law on advertising or food business, it is necessary to promptly inform and report to the authorities for settlement according to the law.

For famous, prestigious and influential people in society and on cyberspace, the Ministry of Public Security requires strict compliance with legal regulations when participating in advertising; be careful and responsible when implementing contracts to promote, introduce and announce products whose brands they represent; absolutely do not provide false information or exaggerate the features and effects of products without basis, scientific basis and supporting documents.
