Udon Thani province in Thailand is considered the "capital" of Vietnamese Thais with more than 60,000 people. This is also the province with the largest concentration of Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand.
Previously, in February 2023, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Phan Chi Thanh and Mr. Thanadorn Phuttharaksa, Mayor of Udon Thani City, had a working session and inspected the progress of the implementation of the world's first Vietnamese Town project in Udon Thani City.

Vietnam Town is expected to become a cultural center for Vietnamese people in the Northeast region of Thailand. This is a place to preserve the traditions and culture of the Vietnamese community as well as become a tourist attraction.
The project received strong support from the local government and received an investment of 3 million THB (nearly 86,000 USD) to build and upgrade the infrastructure system of the Vietnamese neighborhood.

For now, the neighborhood only welcomes guests on weekends, Saturday and Sunday, from 6am to 2pm.

"Although this is a new tourist destination in Udon Thani city, it is worth visiting, especially for those who want to taste Vietnamese cuisine. It has not officially opened yet, but the atmosphere here on weekends is very vibrant.
The vendors are friendly and have many choices for customers to try at reasonable prices. Initially, I planned to eat many dishes at the restaurants, but in the end, I was full after only trying 2 restaurants, so I had to buy some to take away," said Ms. Chaiyarungrot.
