According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around early morning and early morning of February 7, a strong cold air mass will affect the Northeast region, then affect the Northwest region, North Central region, Central Central region and some places in the South Central region.

In the North, from the afternoon of February 7, the weather will turn cold and very cold. From the night of February 7, the weather will turn cold in the North Central region, and the area from Quang Binh to Hue will turn cold and very cold in some places.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North is generally 9-12 degrees, in mountainous areas 5-8 degrees, in high mountainous areas below 2 degrees in some places; in the North Central region it is generally 11-14 degrees, in the area from Quang Binh to Hue it is generally 14-16 degrees.

From the afternoon of February 7, the weather in Hanoi will turn cold, with some places experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 10-12 degrees.

The widespread cold spell in the North and North Central provinces is likely to last until around February 10.

In addition, due to the influence of the cold air strengthening combined with the strong current in the upper westerly wind zone, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will have scattered rain; the region from Nghe An to Khanh Hoa will have rain, showers, locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. The high mountainous regions of the North are likely to experience snow and frost.

At sea, from February 7, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind is strong at level 6, sometimes at level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 2-3 m high. In the North East Sea, the Northeast wind is strong at level 6, then increasing to level 7, gusting to level 9, rough seas, waves 4-6 m high. The sea from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the area between the East Sea and the western sea of ​​the South East Sea, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas.

On the evening of February 5, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued a telegram requesting ministries, branches and localities to closely monitor warning bulletins and forecasts on the development of cold air and promptly inform local authorities and people to proactively take appropriate preventive measures.

The Northern and North Central provinces need to deploy plans to respond to the cold, especially strengthening guidance on ensuring the health of people and students at boarding schools, and not using coal stoves to heat closed rooms to avoid human casualties.

At the same time, propagate and guide livestock farming households to strengthen barns, cover and keep warm, store food; prevent and control epidemics for livestock and poultry; guide measures to ensure safety for rice, vegetable and other crop production.

For strong winds at sea (coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang), it is necessary to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
