After moving all artifacts to the new facility, Da Nang will implement phase 2, renovating the special national relic of Dien Hai Citadel.
Da Nang's history is marked by the Governor's Palace, also known as Da Nang City Hall (No. 42 Bach Dang, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City), built during the French colonial period, which is now over 120 years old. The City Hall is also a witness to the heroic historical moments of the army and people of Da Nang with the event at noon on March 29, 1975, the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam flew on the roof of the City Hall, marking the victory of the army and people of Da Nang in the resistance war against the US to save the country. During the construction and development period, this building continued to be used as the headquarters of the People's Committee of Quang Nam - Da Nang province. In 1994, this building was renovated and upgraded but still retained the aesthetic values of French architecture. At the time of administrative division in 1997, this building was the headquarters of the People's Committee of Da Nang city. In June 2014, the administrative apparatus of Da Nang city moved to the City Administration Center, the building became the headquarters of the City People's Council. Up to now, the Da Nang City People's Council has moved to the new headquarters, where there is still a large hall where the annual City People's Council meeting takes place. |
