The "Singing Festival for the Elderly" taking place in Ha Tinh is not only a meaningful activity in response to the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023, but also a space to help the elderly live happily and healthily, while promoting cultural and artistic movements at the grassroots level.
Implementing the plan of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, from March 2023, the Ha Tinh Association of the Elderly will coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province to develop a plan to organize the "Elderly Singing Festival" throughout the province.

The festival is organized from the commune and district levels, before participating in the provincial final round - scheduled to take place at the end of September 2023. Accordingly, each commune-level unit will organize a delegation to participate in the district-level festival; from there, select a team with the best performance to participate at the provincial level. With the content praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and the tradition of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly; promoting the building of cultural families..., the performances are performed through solos, duets, trios, choirs, skits, etc.
Deployed from March to now, 216/216 commune-level units have completed organizing the festival; at the district level, 5 units have organized (Ky Anh Town, Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Loc Ha, Can Loc). It is expected that in August, the festival organization in the remaining areas will be completed.
Ky Anh town is the first district-level unit to organize a singing festival for the elderly.
Mr. Hoang Van Be - Chairman of the Elderly Association of Ky Anh town said: “To participate in the town-level festival, communes and wards across the area have been practicing enthusiastically for months. With careful and thorough preparation, on June 24, we were the first unit in the whole province to organize a district-level festival. The festival brought unique and attractive performances, which were carefully staged and invested in, demonstrating the spirit of living happily, living healthily, and living usefully of the elderly. In particular, the program was enthusiastically cheered by audiences of all ages and created a strong influence, promoting the cultural and artistic movement at the grassroots level”.
Not only that, the festival is also an opportunity for the elderly in the localities to exchange and express their passion for arts, increasing the spirit of solidarity and friendship among the branches. Thereby, helping the elderly live happily, healthily, usefully and be a shining example for the younger generation to follow.
The mass art festival and singing of the elderly attracted a large number of people of all ages to participate and watch.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi An (75 years old, residential group 2, Nghen town, Can Loc) shared: “The festival program with the competition rounds from the grassroots to the province has created a space for us to exchange happily and enthusiastically. Participating in the performance practice, I feel much happier and healthier; the men and women between the branches in the town have the opportunity to meet, chat, and become more united.”
Currently, the senior association of localities throughout the province is actively practicing to soon complete the district-level festival and select a team to participate in the provincial-level festival scheduled to take place from September 16-17, 2023, at the provincial Cinema and Cultural Center.
Completing the provincial festival is also an important premise for Ha Tinh to carefully prepare to participate in the Northern Provinces' Elderly Singing Festival - Region I, scheduled to take place from September 29 to October 1, 2023.

Mr. Thai Van Sinh - Chairman of the Provincial Association of the Elderly said: “Ha Tinh is honored to be chosen as the venue for the Launching Ceremony in response to the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2023 and the Elderly Singing Festival of the Northern Provinces - Region I. Participating in the regional festival in Ha Tinh is the participation of 28 provinces and cities with more than 400 delegates. This will be an opportunity for the elderly in Ha Tinh to meet and exchange with other provinces; at the same time, it is an opportunity to promote the potential and advantages of local tourism, so we will actively coordinate with related units to ensure the program takes place in a practical, effective manner, creating a strong spread".
“The Provincial Elderly Association is actively directing to ensure the provincial festival takes place with quality and on schedule. Later, we will focus on preparing conditions to welcome delegations from other provinces to Ha Tinh to attend the regional festival,” Mr. Thai Van Sinh shared.
