Thanh Thuy was withdrawn early by coach Tuan Kiet in the match against Nepal.
At 2:30 p.m. Hangzhou (1:30 p.m. Vietnam time), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team had their opening match at the 19th ASIAD, ending with a 3-0 victory over Nepal after 1 hour and 2 minutes.
That was the match where main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, along with Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh and Tran Tu Linh, left early to rest. Coach Tuan Kiet sent the second team onto the field and easily won the next two sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-13 respectively.
Immediately after the match ended, the entire Vietnamese women's volleyball team received orders to quickly pack up and move to the warm-up court next door to continue practicing.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet is being flexible with the training schedule so that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team can adapt well in Hangzhou.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet explained: "Today, the opponent Nepal is not too strong. However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has not returned to normal. Especially the second pass steps are not coordinated. In addition, the field here is very difficult to practice.
Since arriving in Hangzhou on September 28, we have only had one training session. Over here, they have many fields, training in one place and competing in another. Of course, this is a common difficulty. However, Vietnamese athletes have not had time to adapt and have not had time to practice because of the long distance.
Tomorrow, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will meet their Korean opponent at 10:30 local time (9:30 Vietnam time), which means our teachers and students will have to wake up very early, from 6:45 here (5:45 Vietnam time) to prepare and move to the field to prepare for the match.
Vietnam women's volleyball team has a gentle warm-up
The good news is that the current athletes, if not physically challenged, are in good spirits and form. Hopefully, in tomorrow's match, they will be able to perform to their full potential to compete better."
For her part, female athlete Tran Tu Linh said: "Today I feel the team played very well. I hope that thanks to today's match, the whole team will have the best motivation and spirit for tomorrow's match against the Korean opponent.
Recently, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was somewhat lucky to defeat the Korean team at the 2023 Asian Championship (in Thailand - PV). The whole team will try their best to win tomorrow's match, defeating their opponents once again."
