Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong informed about the 2024 high school graduation exam at a press conference.

On the afternoon of June 28, after finishing the final exam of the 2024 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training held a press conference on the 2024 high school graduation exam.

Regarding the suspected leak of the Literature exam, Professor Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, affirmed that there was no leak of the Literature exam.

Professor Nguyen Ngoc Ha said: "The description circulating online does not match the excerpt and question compared to the official exam. The number of works in the program and the scope of the exam are limited. Therefore, guessing the correct name of the work and author in the exam is random."

Regarding this issue, Major General Tran Dinh Chung, Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Political Security, Ministry of Public Security, said that this conclusion is well-founded. The police have verified that the person who spread the news is a 12th grade student in Hanoi. This student admitted that the information was false and removed the post.

"However, as a precaution, we will wait for the exam marking process and results. If any problems are discovered, we will continue to investigate," said Mr. Tran Dinh Chung.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Public Security, the recent violations of exam regulations mainly involved bringing phones into the exam room, and no candidates have been found to have cheated using high-tech devices. Previously, there was a subject who spread information about leaking exam questions, the Ministry of Public Security has checked and found the subject and this subject pledged not to repeat the offense.

Meanwhile, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, said that this is the last exam organized according to the 2006 general education program.

Mr. Chuong said that at the end of the exam, statistics showed that nationwide, there were 30 candidates who violated exam regulations, of which 26 candidates were suspended from the exam (9 candidates used documents and 17 candidates used mobile phones), no staff violated exam regulations.

Mr. Chuong affirmed that the transportation and printing of exam papers were guaranteed to be safe and confidential. The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the exams were conducted safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.

Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong affirmed that from 2025, the exam will continue to change in the direction of reducing pressure and costs while still ensuring reliability. The Ministry will gradually increase the differentiation of the exam questions for universities to use for admission. Currently, 65% of schools consider admission based on graduation exam scores.

Next year, the high school graduation exam will follow the new general education program (2018). The goal of this program is to develop students' qualities and abilities, using many sets of textbooks. Therefore, the language in the exam can be taken from many sources.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Training emphasized: "Such questions will limit the situation of rote learning, lopsided learning, guessing questions or following sample essays."

The 2024 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-28. Candidates will take four exams including Literature, Math, Foreign Language and a combination exam (Natural Science or Social Science). At exactly 8:00 a.m. on July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the exam scores. After the results are available, the Departments of Education and Training will organize the high school graduation exam.
