On October 26th, the Binh Chanh District Police (Ho Chi Minh City) verified and confirmed that there were no hidden cameras in the restrooms of Tan Tuc High School. The earlier rumors that caused panic have been refuted.
Previously, information circulated on social media alleging that a male student from Tan Tuc High School had installed hidden cameras and devices in the girls' restroom. Thousands of images and videos were disseminated and sold on dark web sites. This information caused panic among teachers, students, and parents.
Upon receiving the information, the Binh Chanh District Police coordinated with the school's administration to verify and clarify the incident.
Police release information regarding the case of thousands of secretly filmed clips of female students in restrooms.
According to the report, on the afternoon of October 23rd, NQH (a 12th-grade student at Tan Tuc High School) secretly filmed an 11th-grade female student while she was going to the school canteen. A classmate of the female student discovered the video and asked H. to delete it, but H. showed no interest. This person then reported the incident to another classmate named D.K (the female student who was filmed). D.K subsequently assaulted NQH and demanded that he delete the clip in front of him.
When the fight occurred, the school administration invited the families of NQH and D.K to the school for a meeting and had the two students write statements (NQH wrote a statement admitting guilt for secretly filming a classmate; D.K wrote a statement admitting guilt for hitting a classmate).
However, later that evening, numerous public groups and fake accounts appeared on Facebook alleging that NQH had secretly filmed female students at Tan Tuc High School by installing hidden cameras in the girls' restroom.
The Binh Chanh District Police, in coordination with the school's administration, quickly worked with the students involved regarding the information and public opinion about the installation of hidden cameras (with the presence of parents). Simultaneously, they conducted a comprehensive inspection of all restrooms, and the results showed no hidden cameras were found.
NQH himself asserts that he did not secretly film female students in the restroom. Upon checking NQH's phone, no offensive images like those posted on social media were found.
Following this incident, many false rumors spread, such as the claim that NQH had been transferred to another school. This information is completely fabricated because NQH is currently still studying at Tan Tuc High School.
The Binh Chanh District Police have worked with the Board of Directors of Tan Tuc High School to instruct homeroom teachers to organize class activities to stabilize the students' psychology.
At the same time, the Binh Chanh District Police urged parents to remain calm, encourage their children to focus on their studies, and post information cautiously and with verification when using social media. Any act of fabrication, slander, or posting false information will be dealt with according to the law.
