As his condition became more and more serious, Mr. E. was taken by his family to Xuyen A General Hospital (HCMC) for examination. At the Oncology Department of Xuyen A General Hospital, doctors performed a clinical examination, performed an abdominal ultrasound, an upper abdominal CT scan, and a colonoscopy, and discovered that the patient had a left colon tumor with a tumor size of 8 cm located near the splenic angle.
On September 29, specialist doctor Nguyen Quoc Huy - Oncology Department, Xuyen A General Hospital, said that in the face of the above situation, the doctors held a consultation and decided to schedule laparoscopic surgery. During the surgery, the team removed a nearly 40 cm long section of the colon containing the tumor, while preserving the surrounding organs. After surgery, the tumor was pathologically examined with the result that it was malignant.

After 5 days of surgery, the patient recovered, the abdominal pain stopped and was discharged, scheduled for a follow-up visit. The patient was advised on the next treatment plan, chemotherapy, to prevent recurrence.
Dr. Huy said that colon cancer tumors often develop silently and do not show clinical symptoms in the early stages, making them difficult to diagnose. Therefore, when clinical symptoms appear, the tumor is often in the late stages. At that time, the tumor often grows and invades neighboring organs, which is a big challenge for endoscopic surgery.
Doctors recommend that people should have regular medical check-ups. When seeing unusual symptoms in the body or digestive system, people should immediately go to medical facilities for examination and determination of the cause to proactively detect and treat early if there is a colon tumor, not leaving the disease at a too late stage.
