Prosecution of former Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Bac

According to the decision to prosecute the case and prosecute the accused, during the implementation of the National Highway 20 bypass project, the section through Loc Nga commune, Bao Loc city, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Bac signed decisions on compensation for site clearance from land position 2 to position 1. This violation of Mr. Bac caused damage to the State of more than 911 million VND.

Mr. Bac was found to have taken advantage of his position and power to cause damage to state property and committed violations in illegally allocating 71 land lots. The violations occurred during the period when Mr. Bac was Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee (2015 - 2019). Mr. Bac retired in 2019.

In addition to Mr. Bac, the Lam Dong Provincial Police Investigation Agency also prosecuted Mr. Nguyen Van Long (57 years old), Deputy Director of Bao Loc City Project Management Board, in charge of compensation.

Mr. Long was the person who directly advised Mr. Bac to sign and issue decisions related to land acquisition, compensation and site clearance for road construction in Bao Loc City.

Previously, the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee also concluded that the Standing Committee of Bao Loc City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term violated working regulations, lacked responsibility, loosened leadership, direction, and lacked inspection and supervision, allowing the Bao Loc City People's Committee for the 2015-2017 period to violate the preparation, appraisal, and approval of compensation, support, and resettlement plans; allocated resettlement land, and allocated residential land without going through an auction, which was not in accordance with regulations.

These violations have caused serious consequences, risked loss of state assets, caused bad public opinion, affected the reputation of the Party organization and local government to the point of requiring consideration and disciplinary action.
