The book series “Renowned Ancient Crafts” published by Kim Dong Publishing House currently has 10 volumes. Following the journey of the little girl An – the main character in each volume, readers have trips to explore all over the country. Each volume is a vivid slice of the history of formation and development and the unique processes of each craft village, such as making Do paper, pottery, bronze casting, silk making, drum making, silver carving, carpentry, fish sauce making, blacksmithing, and basket and bottle making.

With the goal of reaching young children, Kim Dong Publishing House has collaborated with a team of authors and artists to invest in illustrations, bringing pages of books with vivid color drawings, imbued with traditional cultural imprints but still youthful and close to primary school age.

Not only a comic book series, “Vang danh nghe co co” is also a visualeducational tool, helping students realize the importance of craft village culture in modern life and contributing to preserving national identity. Through each page of the book, students understand that preserving traditional crafts is not only maintaining a livelihood, but also preserving a treasure trove of Vietnamese history, aesthetics and spirit, thereby arousing love for the country’s traditional culture.

At the meeting, the group of authors Phuong Bui, Thanh Nguyen and the group of artists NGART, Xuan Quynh, Ruoc Dang shared about their inspiration, journey of searching for content materials and interesting stories revolving around the creative process.

According to author Thanh Nguyen, the group of authors and artists spent a lot of time going to the field in Vietnamese villages, meeting and talking with artisans and local people; consulting and comparing information from the "Compendium of Vietnamese Craft Villages" and many other sources to create the book series. The group said they will continue to pursue this book project in the long term, to introduce more traditional craft villages of the country.

In addition to the exchange, readers also have the opportunity to participate in interactive games to learn about interesting craft villages, introduced in the book series "Famous Ancient Crafts".
