Vietnam is increasingly becoming an attractive destination for international visitors.
Starting a business in the tourism industry is a challenging but also very interesting journey, especially in the context of tourism being oriented to become a spearhead economic sector.
According to Mr. Tran Quang Duy, Director of Penguin Travel Service Joint Stock Company (CCC Travel - the enterprise with the project winning the first prize in the 2024 Tourism Innovation and Startup Competition in Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta), data from the General Statistics Office shows that in 2024, international visitors to Vietnam will reach nearly 17.6 million, an increase of nearly 40% over the previous year. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at about VND 840,000 billion, an increase of 23.8%. Vietnam is increasingly becoming an attractive destination for international visitors. In this context, many startups are making efforts to build tourism products.
Mr. Duy believes that in order to build and innovate tourism products, it is necessary to first thoroughly understand customer needs and discover unmet needs. The difference between tourism products lies in how deeply we understand customers. CCC Travel has taken advantage of the strengths of inner-city tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, exploiting familiar but unique experiences such as visiting historical and cultural sites and enjoying street food.
"Traveling is not just about sightseeing but also living the journey to the fullest. When designing products, we always focus on interactive experiences, such as participating in cooking traditional dishes, exploring local life or learning cultural stories from local people. We refresh familiar products by adding creative elements, such as using technology (virtual reality applications, digital maps, etc.), collaborating with local artists to tell stories through art or creating limited, exclusive editions for a certain group of customers" - Mr. Duy shared his experience.
From his own experience in starting a business, the CEO of CCC Travel emphasized that other startups should not be afraid to experiment. Mr. Duy acknowledged that innovation always comes with risks, but it is through experimentation that creative and market-appropriate solutions can be found, ensuring that the product or service truly brings value to customers. In addition, it is advisable to cooperate with other businesses, local communities, and competitors to open up many unexpected development opportunities.
