Mr. Nguyen Van Bach bought melon seeds to sow in his home garden. |
Initially, Mr. Bach’s family experimented with some traditional agricultural models, such as growing apples, lemons, bananas, etc., but they were not effective. Realizing the importance of applying science and technology to production, he researched and decided to choose the Ichiba melon growing model.
The Ichiba melon growing model was implemented by Mr. Bach since 2021, on an area of over 2,000m2. He said: This is a melon variety originating from Japan, outstanding for its sweet, cool taste and high freshness, superior to many common melons.
One of the important characteristics of Ichiba melon is that the flesh is very soft and smooth, with no seeds or only a few small seeds in the center. This characteristic makes Ichiba melon very popular as a snack or a nutritious dessert. If stored properly, Ichiba melon can retain its quality for 7-10 days.
One of the decisive factors that helped Mr. Bach's model succeed was the application of the greenhouse growing technique. This method helps control factors such as light, temperature, humidity, pests and nutrition, thereby helping the plants grow well and produce high yields.
Mr. Bach grows Ichiba melons using high-tech processes, from selecting varieties, caring for plants to harvesting. Each year, he grows 2 crops, each lasting about 3 months; the average yield is about 15 tons, with a revenue of more than 600 million VND/year. This figure may be higher if we include the cost savings in the production process thanks to the application of advanced technology. This shows that the Ichiba melon growing model not only brings high efficiency in terms of yield but also helps him increase sustainable revenue growth.
During harvest time or when he needs someone to take care of the plants, Mr. Nguyen Van Bach has to hire 5-6 seasonal workers. |
It can be affirmed that Nguyen Van Bach's success is not luck but the result of hard work, creativity and daring to challenge himself.
Mr. Bach said: I chose the famous Japanese Ichiba melon variety to create a unique and valuable product on the market. To grow the plant effectively, I learned and applied care methods and closely monitored the growth process of the melon.
Although the model initially showed positive results, Mr. Bach was still a bit worried. One of the biggest difficulties he encountered was maintaining product quality in unstable weather conditions. There was a season when he had to throw away a large number of melons because the fruits were small and did not guarantee sweetness... Managing and controlling the environment in the greenhouse required him to constantly update his knowledge and new techniques to ensure the products met standards.
In addition, the product consumption market is also an important factor. However, with the superior product quality and the Ichiba melon brand recognized by consumers, Mr. Bach currently has a stable output for the product, when it is time to harvest, traders come to the garden to buy.
Mr. Nguyen Van Bach is a shining example of a successful agricultural start-up in Phu Lac. His model is a clear demonstration that the combination of economic knowledge and science and technology can help increase the value of the agricultural sector, opening up new opportunities for young people who want to start a business in this field.
