To create an ideal library environment, teachers focus on designing library corners that are appropriate for children's ages.

At preschool age , children begin to form their personalities. This is the “golden” stage for children’s development. Building good habits at this stage is extremely important, including the habit of reading - one of the habits that deeply affects the development of children’s thinking, morality and lifestyle.

Sharing about how to train her child to have a reading habit, Ms. Tran Thi Diem Chi (Thuan My commune, Chau Thanh district) said: “I create a love for reading for my child so that he can see the appeal and actively read books without forcing him. My husband and I often read books with our child, analyze and draw lessons so that he can understand the meaning behind each work, instead of just skimming through the content. It is through the companionship and example of parents that children will feel the joy of reading, thereby turning reading into a sustainable habit rather than a mandatory task.”

To develop a reading culture and create reading habits for children, educational institutions flexibly organize library activities and reading movements in a diverse manner in terms of content and form. At Kindergarten 1/6 (Ward 1, Tan An City), the library corner has become a favorite destination for children after each activity. Children are introduced to books with a variety of topics, stories and the world around them. Although children cannot read yet, by observing the pictures and colors in the books, they can memorize words and expand their vocabulary.

The bookshelves are arranged at the same level, making it easy for children to take and put away books. The library space is decorated with bright and funny images and many vivid drawings and pictures to help children easily observe and access books. Furniture such as tables and chairs are also made from available, recycled materials, creating a lively space for children to read. In addition, the school always changes and adds new books to create excitement for children."

Children are introduced to books during corner activities and outdoor activities. They can choose their own books and sit at small tables to read. After reading, children are instructed to put the books in the right place. The teacher will join in reading books with the children.

Along with educating children on how to preserve books, keep them clean and not tear or dirty them, the school also promotes parents' reading habits at home for their children.
