Specialized communication program for social security issues of workers
Speaking at the program, Editor-in-Chief of Economic and Urban Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi said: After 3 years of cooperation, especially the event marking the long-term connection between Economic and Urban Newspaper, ActionAid International in Vietnam, Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund (AFV) by signing a cooperation agreement for the period 2023 - 2025 has helped the 3 units have key investments and interests in the contest "Silent Contributions".
According to the assessment of many units, Silent Contributions has truly become a series of thematic media events in 1 year. Hundreds of articles received by the Organizing Committee are touching stories about the strong-willed examples of female workers with disabilities, or reflect the hidden limitations of many businesses in caring for and treating female workers, and the difficulties of immigrant workers in the informal labor market. The entries exploit various angles and aspects of the picture of labor, employment, and social security.
Thanks to the successes of the previous 3 seasons, the Organizing Committee confidently proposed to relevant units, especially to ask for opinions and receive permission from the Hanoi People's Committee to develop the "Silent Contributions" contest into the "Silent Contributions" communication program from 2024.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi - Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Communication Program spoke at the ceremony.
“The Organizing Committee will pay special attention to promoting activities in a more approachable manner to help support vulnerable groups with legal knowledge, and set more specific goals to contribute to raising awareness of the parties about the difficulties that female workers face: obstacles in production and business, economic inflation, regional and international integration, climate change, opportunities and difficulties created by the digital economy” - Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasized.
In particular, the Organizing Committee encourages the participation of young people in digital journalism, which is the goal that the Organizing Committee has also set. Expanding and calling for the participation of the Podcast genre issued in the contest rules, training students to make Podcasts on topics related to social security issues, the Organizing Committee hopes to help the authors of the contest as well as interested subjects, create articles protecting the rights of female workers, also following the development trend of digital journalism today, in order to help communication work spread more widely to many subjects.
“Also from 2024, the Organizing Committee plans to develop a “long-term” action plan for the “Silent Contributions” Communication Program according to long-term goals... to aim for the milestone of implementation, development and long-term operation of a prestigious but also very specific and specialized playground for social security issues of workers” – Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasized.
Mr. Ta Viet Anh - Chairman of Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund, Deputy Head of the Communication Program Organizing Committee spoke at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ta Viet Anh - Chairman of the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund, Deputy Head of the Communication Program Organizing Committee emphasized: The decision of the Organizing Committee to develop the "Silent Contributions" Contest into the "Silent Contributions" Communication Program in 2024 is a strong commitment from the Economic and Urban Newspaper, ActionAid International in Vietnam and the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund, to support workers - especially female workers, employers, communities and state policy-making agencies, to have a more comprehensive view of the challenges in implementing satisfactory employment in the formal and informal sectors when economic development conditions are still difficult in Vietnam.
“Through this communication program, we hope to contribute to raising public awareness about ensuring general rights for workers in the context of the digital economy and climate change in order to build a safe and sustainable community; further support the rights of the disadvantaged, ethnic minority youth... and at the same time expand the network of journalists with similar interests,” said Mr. Ta Viet Anh.
Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department Pham Thanh Hoc spoke at the ceremony.
Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department Pham Thanh Hoc highly appreciated the promotion of the Contest to become a communication program. The success of 3 seasons has affirmed the humane and meaningful nature that has helped this Contest spread and be highly effective.
According to Mr. Pham Thanh Hoc, in 2024, the country and the capital will develop in general, but businesses will still face many difficulties. This will have a significant impact on workers, especially female workers. The Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department hopes that the Program will raise the understanding of stakeholders, including workers, especially female workers, employers, and the community about the challenges in providing decent work in the formal and informal sectors in the context of uneven economic development between regions.
“There are still many people in society who bring humanistic values to the community but are not yet well-known. I hope that through the Program, good examples will be spread, bringing positive and good things to the community,” said Pham Thanh Hoc, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Propaganda Department.
The difference of the contest "Silent Contributions" in 2024 compared to previous seasons
At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee answered some questions that journalists were interested in about the 2024 "Silent Contributions" Communication Program.
The Organizing Committee answers questions of interest to journalists.
Answering the question about the new features of the 2024 "Silent Contributions" Communication Program compared to previous seasons, Editor-in-Chief of Economic and Urban Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi said: Every year, the Organizing Committee expands the content of the contest to be related to current events and issues facing workers, especially disadvantaged workers and female workers. I can confidently affirm that the "Silent Contributions" contest has become a playground for professional and non-professional journalists. This is clearly shown in the fact that, right after the third contest ended and since the beginning of the year, our Organizing Committee has received questions from professional and non-professional journalists about: When will the contest be launched, what topics will this year's contest include so that they can plan, invest in building an outline, and go to the field to collect materials to produce a series of entries.
The theme of the 2024 "Silent Contributions" contest has the same content as last year's contest theme, so that professional and non-professional journalists have the opportunity to express their cherished thoughts into each work with better quality.
However, this year, our Organizing Committee has set the competition format for professional and non-professional authors. Accordingly, for works by professional authors: Articles have been published in central and local press publications, from January 1, 2024 to October 30, 2024. For works by non-professional authors, articles have been published on forums, personal information pages, social networks, self-produced podcast programs, videos posted on personal pages... Content focuses on vulnerable groups in society, women, children, those in need of help...
The award structure of the 2024 “Silent Contributions” contest has also changed, and the prize value has also increased compared to 2023. The Organizing Committee will award prizes to professional and amateur authors.
The award structure for professional authors includes 22 individual awards and 1 collective award, with a prize value of 135 million VND.
The award structure for non-professional authors includes 12 individual awards and 1 collective award, with a prize value of 100 million VND.
The total prize value for professional and amateur authors is 235 million VND, an increase of 40 million VND compared to 2023.
