>>Yen Bai develops reading culture in the highlands
>>Yen Bai has many ways to inspire a passion for reading
>>Developing reading culture in the digital age
Reading culture plays an extremely important role in building a learning society, improving people's knowledge and developing high-quality human resources for the province. However, reading culture today seems to be forgotten by young people. The distance from reading culture among Yen Bai youth is raising many issues of concern, and to adjust that requires the joint efforts of families, schools, communities and young people themselves...
According to comrade Ha Duc Hai - Secretary of Yen Bai Provincial Youth Union, promoting reading culture among young people is an urgent task, requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system, families, schools and communities. "With synchronous solutions and continuous efforts, we can completely arouse the passion for reading and build a generation of young people in Yen Bai who are rich in knowledge, cultured, and actively contribute to the development of the province." - comrade Ha Duc Hai added.
In fact, in recent years, Yen Bai has made great efforts to develop a reading culture. Many reading promotion activities have been organized, attracting the participation of a large number of students. The "Reading Culture Ambassador" contest organized by the Provincial Youth Union is a typical example, creating a healthy playground and inspiring children's love of reading... Along with that is the investment and upgrading of school libraries and public libraries, supplementing rich sources of documents.
One of the activities carried out by Yen Bai Provincial Youth Union to promote and form the habit of reading books, improve the reading culture among union members and youth is to organize for team members and children to actively participate in the thematic activities "Every week a beautiful story, a good book, a shining example"; regularly organize and exchange topics, columns, articles, books, and articles about the historical traditions of the Team, examples of young heroes, and typical examples of children in traditional activities, team activities, and inter-team activities...
Along with that, to meet the increasing demands of readers, especially young readers, Yen Bai Provincial Library has gradually innovated and applied modern technology through the reading program on digital platforms with many specific tasks such as: building a digital library; processing document digitization operations, promoting book promotion on social networking platforms through categories such as Good books of the month, new books, specialized books, children's books, online exhibitions, etc.

According to comrade Dong Thi Hong Hanh - Director of Yen Bai Provincial Library, contributing to the development of reading culture among young people, in recent times, the Provincial Library has organized activities such as: issuing reader cards, sharing digital documents to units and schools; building unit bookcases, branch bookcases, classroom bookcases... At the same time, increasing mobile service activities, especially in remote areas; supplementing types of books suitable for the interests and ages of young people.
Besides positive signals, developing a reading culture among young people in Yen Bai in particular and young people across the country in general still faces many difficulties when the Internet, social networking platforms... are attracting the attention of young people, causing the time spent on reading to decrease significantly; young people have not been oriented and encouraged to read suitable books; the coordination between families, schools and social organizations in building and developing a reading culture for young people is not effective...
To effectively develop a reading culture among young people, first of all, it is necessary to promote propaganda and education about the importance of reading for the comprehensive development of individuals and society; each family and parent needs to create conditions and encourage their children to read, spend time reading with their children, and talk about the books they have read; increase reading promotion activities, introduce good books and set examples of young people with positive reading habits.
Schools and school libraries need to be invested in and upgraded to become friendly, modern reading spaces with diverse sources of documents; organize extracurricular activities related to books such as: book clubs, author talks, book competitions, and integrate reading into subjects in a flexible and creative way...
At the same time, focus on organizing book festivals and reading culture exchange activities to attract the participation of young people; build bookcases and reading spaces at cultural houses and community centers.
Along with the 4.0 technology era, the need for reading is no longer purely traditional but gradually changes with many types and forms of reading. Hopefully, with the effort to change the mindset about reading culture, it will arouse the passion for reading and build a generation of young people in Yen Bai who are rich in knowledge and culture. Thereby, Yen Bai youth will have a deeper and more sympathetic view of reading culture to act together for a better future, contributing positively to the development of the province.
